There seems to be a flurry of this. The last several calls I have gotten( from different companies) have quoted $75 for the edocs and all. I have compromised with them on some of the closer ones (met them in the middle) but I cannot stay in business at those rates.
On one confirmation I received tho' , they included in their notes their 2 day search for a notary in this area...Seems to be a shortage here. The Title Co had also called me on one with the $75 request...and 2 days later its in the hands of a SS and at more....go figure that reasoning.
I am considering that its the Christmas mail swamp period but I have several companies with overdue checks owed to me. Then they want a break on my fees? I am sorry, Christmas or not, I am not a charity.

You forgot to add traveling 100 miles RT for that lowball fee.

Nations Direct, I think that's what they said, called me last week & offered $60 for a package with EDocs. I countered with $140 & they never phoned back.

I have been getting calls for low fees. I tell the signing company I am willing to do a signing for 75.00 only if the docs are mailed. However, it I have to print I charge 150.00 for a local signing. It is amazing how the doc show up in the mail the next day.

How can you justify charging $75 more for edocs? No company would go for that.

Nations Direct 1st and 2nd, last minute edocs $85.00!!!!!!!

I can beat that......Nations Direct called me for a last minute closing. !st and 2nd loan, edocs in another county.........about 40 miles one way and the scheduler said $85.00. To that........ I BOLDY and LOUDLY proclaimed "ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!" Then the scheduler said what about $100? I gave my quote and of course the reply was....we'll get back to you. I said listen we all know how Nations Direct works. You shop around for the cheapest quote while using up my cell phone minutes. Don't bother......Terri/Florida

last minute edocs $85.00!!!!!!!

I think I refused more closing these last 2 weeks then I did. I am not giving up my free time during the holiday season for the stress to be under paid. Happy Holidays to you all.

Re: last minute edocs $85.00!!!!!!!

I think that as long as we all stand up and stick to our guns that these SS will begin to realize that we are to good at our jobs that we dont want to be insulted with low pay.

One company called me and asked that I only do it for $85 (they really wanted it to be $65 and I said no) ...I told them that we notaries areNOT stupid and we know how much they get pay by the TC and they are getting more then 50% and underpaying us. I laughed at him and then they negotiated. I made them aware there is a big discussion on this issue amongst notaries and they should be warned that underpaying notaries for work that is "greater" then the pay is insulting us and they should reconsider thier pay rates.

I think I'm gonnna do some fax/mail marketing to advise them, that I NO LONGER will give discounts in 2006. This is the rate..nothing less and nothing more.

its good that we are sticking up with our principles and morals!

I don't think this is a very good idea. It's fine to just stick to your rates when they call, but I think that sending negative marketing materials out will cause you to lose business.
