HELP !!!!What would you do?
I have a unconfirmed (with borrower) signing tonight at 7 p.m., The documents are going to the borrower. Here is my problem(s). I have left several messages for the borrower and have not received a return call. I have called and emailed the SS company. (no response) Should I go ahead and go, or should I wait to hear from ANYONE? Please keep in mind that we got over 9 inches of snow last night and where I live and where I am to go is in the country and the roads are slick and snow covered.

Many companies want us to make the trip irregardless. If you go and it's a no show, you will have honored your confirmation and get a trip fee. Also, it could be a wrong number or any other reason. The SS or TC that hired you will note this, trust me. As far as the slick driving conditions, use your own judgment as to whether or not you could in fact drive it. Good Luck!

Thank you Charm. I just got of the phone with the individual that hired the signing company. She told me to keep trying to get ahold of the borrower, and just keep her updated. Also, she said I could do it Saturday.

I don't know how everyone else operates, but it is my policy to NEVER leave for a signing appointment until I have confirmed the time and address with the borrower.
I got burned once on a signing that was 30 miles away. I had printed the docs and arrived at the borrowers home on time, only to find the whole house dark and nobody home. I later learned that the borrower had a family emergency, which is understandable... but I still wasted paper and time to get to this appointment.
Speak with them first... it may just be that they are not going to be home until 7pm. When they call you back just explain that you don't leave for an appointment without speaking to them first. Reschedule a new time and contact the SS/TC to tell them the time adjustment. Most TC/SS don't care how/when/where the docs get signed... as long as they get signed.

That's the problem Jersey, I have been trying to contact both the borrower and the signing company.

Check your paperwork for the SS. See if they have an emergency number and if so, call it. Otherwise... what else can you do?
Jump into your car (in the snow) and rush to a signing? You don't even know if the borrowers are there... Do eveything that you can from your home/office. I still wouldn't leave without KNOWING that someone is going to be there to answer the doorbell.

Well finally got ahold of the SS, not by the telephone or email, but instant message. Not doing it until I can get ahold of the borrower.

My 2 cents--Re: HELP !!!! What would you do?
I don't like to make trips for nothing either, but sometimes you just can't reach those pesky borrowers for some odd reason -- sometimes the phone is out of order, or whatever.
The couple of times I have been "porched," I did get a trip fee of $50.00, sometimes more (one company paid me $95.00!) and full edoc fee, if applicable. I was not burned. The TC/SS always appreciated that I tried to help the deal close and I have gotten more assignments as a result.
If the road conditions are too dangerous to drive for a possible 'no-show,' they are also too dangerous to drive at all. Borrowers have on occassion told me to stay home in the bad weather because they didn't want it on their conscience if I got in an accident on the way to or from their signing. And they were right. Yes, there are decent folk out there.

Just out of curiosity.....
Did you check the telephone number on the 1003? It may be a different number from what the SS supplied to you.
