Has any one ever heard of this?

Someone told me that in The State of Florida, you can actually put a lien on the borrowers home if you were not paid for a closing. Is this correct? If so, I think that that is kind of an unfair practice.

No, Sherry, you cannot do that in Florida. The way I understand the mechanics liens in Florida, a lien can be placed on property only if there is value added to property by the actions or transaction of the contractor. Other than builders, and building contractors, the only other entities that can place a lien on residential property is the taxing authority and homeowners associations.
