I think I goofed Regarding Venue!
I recently had a signing in another County a few blocks away from the County I live in. When I arrived I assumed the refi would be for the residence I was doing the signing at. As I started to have the borrowers sign the documents it became clear to me that they were getting a loan on an investment property in another County. When it came to the acknowlegement on the DOT the venue only had the state and not the County preprinted. I believe I made a mistake when I put the County that the investment property is located in and not the County where we did the signing!
Some notaries have mentioned in this forum that they've met their borrowers at Dennys or McDonalds to do a signing. Does this mean that if the restaurant is in another County you would put it on the venue?
Hope this doesn't sound too idiotic, but I'll take my medicine if I can get the right answer from the experts!

You're right, you goofed! The venue should have reflected the county that the signing took place in, no matter where the actual property was located.

Yep, venue is always the county where you are physically conducting the signing and notarizing the docs.

Sorry to break it to you, but it does sound that way. This is basic basic basic notary stuff that every notary should know before they even get their notary stamp. It hardly requires "experts" to answer it.
If you don't know this much, I hate to think what else you don't know. You really need to spend the next week learning your notary laws backward and forward.

CaliNotary why do you have to be so nasty, no-one else was? This is one of the reasons I try not to ask any questions on this board..........

It's nasty to tell a notary that they should know how to be a notary?

Gee, and here I thought the information on this board was the important thing. You really think that's secondary to how the information is said? Get your prioirites in order.

Anonymous, I was minding my own business of slaying sockpuppets when you put my name into this thread.
Here is my answer...
Since the question is so very basic and since someone answers it nearly every day, I think you are a fat-bellied troll named Charneiese and not a sincere poster at all.

No way. The profile-challenged Anon is a bitter, dried up old thing who would rather die than put a smilie face in their post.

How incredibly juvenile! Obviously a person bereft of
any original thought. Why don't you go waste someone else's bandwidth. Yes, yours is an offensive post: you offend me! Now why don't you take a well deserved time out, child. If you don't watch it I'll get Korey Humphreys to subpoena you for your intransigence and then maybe Jerold Crimson can be your character witness, you guys are all cut from the same cloth.

Isn't this a repeat of an earlier anon post?
Looks familiar, could've sworn this was the same reply posted in an earlier thread! Hey Anonymous! If you are so big about posting this same copied statement, they WHY do YOU not adhere to it? People that live in glass housed shouldn't throw rocks!

Respectfully suggest you search and read message #76283; it will provide you some insight as to why certain questions receive less than enthusiastic replies.

I have read that particular message and I totally agree. However, I do believe as professionals we should not only treat our "customers" with respect we should also treat our associates with the same respect. Advise, support, feedback and constructive critisism are all, and please remember this is my opinion only, acceptable but rudeness is just plain bad manners and unprofessional. I have also lived long enough on this earth to relise each of us define rudeness in our own way. Have a good week everyone.
