In Flight

I dont know if you all are aware of the geography of Massachusetts, but Nantucket is and island off the coast, about 30 miles out. Was asked to do a closing there, and initially said no due to the cost of the ferry....borrower agreed to fly me to the island. bought me a plane ticket and everything. It was so much fun i did it for my normal fee...

No one's ever offered to fly me over to the islands. That's pretty neat.

What area's do you cover? I could probably refer signings to you.

I am jealous. I visited Boston and went to Martha's Vineyard on the ferry. Mass is lovely. I felt totally empowered when I mastered the subway and was able to go to Harvard, MIT, back down town and find the hotel...walk over to the Hard Rock Cafe and meet my sister...find the park...the ducks and swans. We stayed at an old hotel downtown that was just beautiful. Everything seemed beautiful.

Because my sister wanted to see a Kennedy up close and personal, we rented a red convertible to drive to that place you catch the ferry, but to my dismay, first we went to the beach at Hyannisport. I thought we were dead meat...oh but she and my niece had their rude her paparazzi moment with one of the K. boys...Of course security swarmed and made us leave and my sister and niece got very "blond" and became "lost" little lambs.

My son and I were practically laying down in the seats to avoid worse humiliation. (He and I are not star struck, you know...I have convinced him we *are* stars. Smiley )

LOL

Your ride in the convertible is too funny!

Can't stand the Kennedys myself. They're a bunch of rich communists/socialists -- who made all their money illegally off of booze. Fat Teddy is bastard and I wish he'd drown too. All they want to do is make more welfare and make us working stiffs pay more taxes -- like we don't pay enough in taxes as it is. So you can have the Kennedys. Take them to your state.

Wish I had some of their money though -- a whole lot of their money.

I am always amazed, when I check in here, at the perceptiveness displayed by some members. Have you considered, Tina, soliciting a journal such as U.S. News & World Report for a post as a political columnist? Or maybe making contact with the publisher who I understand is planning an updated edition of "Mein Kamp?"

Re: In Flight - Hugh

Thanks for bringing my attention to this and Ms. Tina's perceptions. I'll pay more attention to her posts from now on, and even less attention to the Kennedy's of Mass (and my mother's origin...much to my dismay and ever-weekly diatribes to me..the California Native Snot, her daughter).

Is there a word such as "bloviates"???? My word. You are a walking, talking (make that typing) thesaurus.

Why, yes there is...

blo·vi·ate
intr.v. Slang blo·vi·at·ed, blo·vi·at·ing, blo·vi·ates

To discourse at length in a pompous or boastful manner: “the rural Babbitt who bloviates about ‘progress’ and ‘growth’” (George Rebeck).

My grasp of the english language and words might actually improve to the point of error-free posts, gramatically. (oops)

But, I bloviate....

TG: and, so does Bill O'Reilly...bloviate, I mean ...

Every night he says, "Send in your pithy comments, but no bloviating. That's *my* job."

I wonder if O'Reilly is a notary.

Most assuredly, my sister nor myself, nor our conservative offspring are fans of the Kennedys.

My sister and her daughter just like to see famous people.

My son has a T-shirt that says "I see famous dead people."

I believe with all my heart that I *am* famous and I will not hear of otherwise.

Just be glad you did not encounter "The Texas Nutjob Family Tourists" that day.

Exactly! If we cannot laugh at our dysfunctional selves...well...we are missing a dang good opportunity to indulge in free comedy! Smiley
