Leasing a printer.

I am looking to replace the 20ppm all in one for one that PAW an another gentleman suggested a while back ( have to find the thread) it was a 55 ppm printer. I cannot afford one right now nor can I afford losing business by not having a faster printer , specially with PDF files. Do any of you know the pros and cons of leasing a printer?

Put out a shout for Chicago Bob. I think he leases. You'll be singing his favorite C&W tune:

"My Pretty High Speed Leased 4 Door Cadillac Printer,
my Old 5 speed Toyota truck and
a Warm Blue Ribbon Beer

(Is taking your Place Just Fine You Two-bit Hussy.)"

Brenda,

You are just too funny! :o)
What is a good high speed printer that would be recommended.
I will have to annie up and buy one for home one of these days
instead of using the one at work all the time (tongue in cheek).

I actually do not know. I have an HP 3015 but it's not a speed demon. It does ok. There is an anon posting in this thread who seems to have some answers.

Bob Chicago says you should get the best printer you can buy or lease and stop fretting over edocs. I also have a Canon Imageclass, but it will not do PCL hungry docs. It makes good copies, though so I flop them over on it and keep moving.

Jenny...I read an earlier post regarding the Brother 5250DN, I did in fact purchase it today from Amazon.com, go to their web site. They did offer a great deal, you may be able to purchase this via their credit card, once approved, no interest for 6 months, you could most likely pay it off the first month, cancel the card if you so chose to. Total cost out the door was I think $219.00, regular $399.00. Here within a week or so. This may help solve your problem and for an extra 30 bucks you could have it delivered sooner.

Thank you, I checked out amazon.com but didn't find it. I lost Chicago Bob's business card, I'll see if I can find it. After all the hassles lately I do want the best that I can afford to purchase/lease.

Someone made a recommendation the other day for www.compuplus.com. I looked and they seem to have some pretty nice deals. I believe they have an HP 1320 tn for around $337.00 after a rebate. It's worth a look.

Is there really a pro for leasing such a low cost item? I could understand leasing a professional quality printer that runs in the thousands of dollars, but I don't see the point in doing it for a desktop printer that you can purchase outright for about $300. I don't know how much the specific model PAW suggested is, but for a signing agent's needs $300 can get you something very nice.

If you're low on cash right now, that's what credit cards are for.

And I'm curious, how are you losing business by having a slower printer? If the typical edoc package is around 100 pages you're saving about 3 minutes per print job with the 55 ppm machine. Where is the business loss?

Yes, I too suggested the credit card usage myself. I recently read about leasing a printer, being curious, I had no idea they leased a printer ( a small one) they do indeed but as I read on I don't think it would be to anyone's advantage.

I am back from checking the sites you folks suggested. Since I am not a quick typist I don't always explain all the details. I have two printers: a 35 ppm which HP is going to replace because it's defective and an all-in-one (Hp 2840) which prints 20 ppm. With the 2840 the pdf files take way too long to print. It's hard to accept a job at 1pm when I have to print and travel for a 3 pm job. With the other printer I am able to accept last minute jobs, it prints quicker. Sometimes I have both printers going. My signings have been plenty of CW from different lenders and SS's and as we know Country Wide loans are pretty thick.

I like the 3 trays on the the main printer and wanted something similar or better at least in speed to replace the all-in-one. If I left anything out let me know, thank you for the feed back.

I just purchased this printer and I love it. It was a ton cheaper than the comparable HP and it prints faster too. I did a package last night with 102 pages and it took abot 10 minutes to print 2 copies. I was amazed! I love the dual tray too! It chooses the paper tray (legal or letter) based on PDF paper size so my package looked awesome! I wish I had bought it sooner is my only regret!

I heard two important factors about this printer on the board, easy, dependable and great service through Brother, sold me.... ordered mine yesterday, paid $219.00.

When I was getting set-up, I had it in my head that I 'had' to have an HP 4000 series, and investigated leasing through HP. It was a joke - lease pymts added up to MORE than just buying it, and leasing (through HP, anyway) isn't cost-effective for us 'small businesses'.

I had gone through HP Business, and when I made it clear to the rep that I would definitely NOT be leasing, she suggested the HP2420 - LOTS cheaper than 4000, and I've been thrilled with it. PCL6, very fast, never had a problem, did add a second tray.

One thing I've learned the 'hard' way - no matter who/where you go, if you go through the 'business services' rep, the prices are usually better. HP, Compusa, etc. Also, the prices are NEGOTIABLE! Every piece of hardware I bought - first I researched, learned prices and features, decided what features I wanted, then spoke with business service reps - they'd steer me to a model, give me a price, and I'd of course have to purse my lips, shake my head ... and listen as price reductions started coming my way =)

Jenny, I went ahead and bit the bullet a few months ago. I shopped on ebay found a great monster printer, HP 8150DN, it came with all kinds of trays. Prints out 32 pgs. a minute. With the shipping charges I paid around $499., but it has paid for itself a coulple of times already.
Good luck shopping.
