People calling out of the blue for notaries

This past weekend I had two different people call me to notarize some basic things. I've never had that happen before. Does that ever happen to you?

Now that you mention it. One adoption , two wills last week. It works for me. I'll slap that seal on anything that's legal! lol

lol, exactly! Me too, made an easy 50 bucks especially because both parties stopped by MY place! I've just never had a call that wasn't from a title co or lender etc.........

How can you charge $50 if you don't have a trip fee? If they came to my place I could only charge $2 per notarizaton.

Because it was for more than one person and more than one document/signature. That's kind of an odd question you are asking when you don't really know what it was I was signing and how many signatures were involved. Here it is $5.

In Cali it is $10.00 for each signature you notarize. Smiley So depending on how many signatures or docs you notarize it can be alot. LOL (or ist it per doc notarized I alwasy get that confused lol)

Several times around here. Things like POA's, Court docs, etc.

Not a strange thing for me either. I get several non-loan signing requests throughout the month.

I had an attorney call from Chicago needing an affidavit notirized. I had two signing scheduled and didn't think it was going to be worth my time until he offered $75.00 and I only had to to go 5 minutes away.

CA, do you ever look at the following website...

My sister lives near Riverside so I check the above website often. I still cannot figure out how CA residents can get so used to feeling like a milkshake!

Just part of the sunshine, I guess. It does give us something to talk about for years to come.

To this day, I still talk about the Big Bear Earthquake in 94. It was a doozie, especially if you lived in the San Bernardino Mountains...45 mins from the epicenter. My kid was outdoor camping with friends in an area of Big Bear called "Boulder Bay"....as in lots of rocks. Not the place a mother wants to see her kid in an earthquake.

How close is Big Bear to Lake Arrowhead?

As a bird flies, not far at all. On the winding "Rim of the World" highway (State Rte 18) it's about 30 minutes give or take for weather. Once past Running Springs, in the winter, there's an area called the "Arctic Circle" that should and would scare the most seasoned weather driver.

Lots of good memories.

Me too Carole...it was the one true 'white out' I've ever been in. I cried when I got home, thanked God, got drunk and called in sick to work the next day, that's how bad it was.

When we got off the mountain and to our hotel, I drank a six pack all by myself. (I don't even like beer LOL)

I guess that's a universal truth...face death, survive, get drunk. Worked for both of us Smiley

Yes, I've had quite a few recently. A couple of individuals who found me on this site and a bank who wanted a notary for some business docs who also found me here.

I get 1 - 2 a week and really like them. If I could get one a day, that would be great. It would be my lunch money every day.

Thanks. Since I live in a somewhat rural area, I was just a little shocked and didn't know if this was common. I'm not complainin'!

doesn't matter where you live, if someone needs to have something notarized, one of their options is to call a notary public. That is what you are first and foremost and if you advertise, they will find you. Nothing strange or shocking about it.
