Problem with Seal
I'm embarrassed to say that last night when I was going over a set of loan docuements, I used my stamp and it didn't completely print. In other words, it said "comm....ion" for commission, and "no...y public" for notary public. I just sat there and didn't know what to do. I didn't want to stamp again, so I filled in the blanks carefully with a black pen and put my initials below it. Any problem with this in your opinion?
I was already home so I didn't have the borrower's copies to switch with. I had signed everything at the closing but was doing my stamping at home.

Don't know about MI, but the altering of a notary seal in FL, by anyone, may be guilty of a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
The GRMN suggests that if a seal is imperfect, that the notary simply restamp the document.

Checked with Michigan SOS and they said to stamp again for clarity.

IN PA YOU ATTACH AN ALL PURPOSE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, OR A JURAT, STAMP AND SIGN THAT. YOU THEN INCLUDE IT IN WITH THAT DOC, DONT STAPLE IT. YOU CAN PRINT BLANK ONES AND HAVE THEM WITH YOU FOR ON THE FLY SIGNINGS.

I would stamp again without crossing the one already done. When they see the two they will understaind the reason for re-stamping.
