Purchase Closing - He left the cat!

I just completed a purchase closing where the buyer was upset over the cost of the fuel proration in the tank. The seller said he shouldn't be upset because he (the seller) left him the washer, a weight machine, a mattress in one of the bedrooms and the cat. I guess that should make up the difference for over $500 in fuel oil. HE LEFT THE CAT!!!! I couldn't believe it. Thank goodness they didn't want the cat prorated as well!

I understand your consternation. I have a freind of mine who does residential properties in Newport Beach. He was tell ing me the other day he was ahving a problems selling a property which ws better than $150k under market and he couldn't sell it because it had bright pink carpeting. Good grief for under $20k you could recarpet the whole house with the finest wool berber!

OMG - I bought a house once that came with a cat! Basically same thing - go to closing, sellers hand over the keys and say "Oh, by the way ..." I was speechless. People sure do some weird things sometimes!
