RE: Nations Direct Mess. Below

I am shocked to see the number of people that are willing to work for $45 bucks !! All the anons'. I if anyone remembers my previous posts regarding these "dirt cheap" ss fees like I stated before "wait until they don't get paid" Welllll here we go Having a little trouble getting Paid? $45.bucks and wait 30 to 40 days to boot !! What are you people thinking ? Again there is NO WAY you can profit form taking those low fees.

My opinion only, but you don't have to a genius to figure it out.

Reminds me of the the two rookie produce sellers

who were buying watermelons for .50, driving them into town and selling them for .50. The one partner after surveying the lack of profits, procalimed, we need a bigger truck....

It would seem that most of these new folks, have come from the ranks of employee, and have never been self-employed. Have no idea what job costing is about, or the true costs of rolling a vehicle down the road. Even more alarming is the rising number of part timers, taking extremely low fees, while all the time are using their employers phones, computers, time and often printers toners and paper to operate their business....... I wonder what their employers would think about these practices:-o

Re: Reminds me of the the two rookie produce sellers

Even partimers like myself have to decide what our time is worth and what we need to profit from our assignments in order to run a sucessful business. Even if some (not me) are using employers phones, toner, paper, etc. they have to realize that those $45 jobs still arent' going to profit much at all. I may just do this part time but there's no way I'm going to take low rent hooker wages from companies with low reputations. I would rather turn down three garbage assignments and keep my time open for a good paying reputable company. Recently I have been getting some cheapo calls. I turn them down and inevitably I get an assignment from a good company that makes as much as three cheapos would have. Work smarter not harder.

Low fees

IMO I think that most SS should be outlawed! Now we get TC's calling asking us to take a way lower fee. I think they figure that since we will take $xx amount for the signing from a signing service, then we should be able to do it for them directly for the same fee. Whoever thought up the SS concept and lowball fees should be shot! Just had to VENT! Thanks!

Hey !! Bonnie

I agree with you and I've had TC try that bologna too. I just tell them my fees are my fees!! Pay it or shop around it doesn't matter with all the experience we have, Certified and all the Fancy dancie equipment (that they require us to have) We are running a BUSINESS I don't take low-ball ss fees and I'm sure not doing it with TC. When I see these ss and tc willing to work below min/wage I might do it if it's next door to my home. Not likley!!lol Just stick to your regular fees and hang in there! These companies have yet to feel the repercussions of their low ball fees. I have yet to have one these companies ask me if I even have E&O insurance, let alone $100K in E&O which TC/Escrow companies require us to have. Interesting is'nt Bonnie. Just sit back and wait for the Fur to Fly!

The really sad thing is I have not had a Slow day yet! So again I ask what are these bargain basement notaries thinking??

Have a great day Bonnie!!!

What do you think of my husbands rates? I asked him to type up a list of towns that I would travel to and list how far they are that way I can keep it handy. Well he took it upon himself and went ahead and started to list the fees he would charge : Chowchilla 50min 1 way -$400, Planada 55 min. $400, Los Banos 1hr (1 way) - $500.

I think you need to get out of the signing biz and get into whatever your husband's business is!

Calinotary, that's funny. Don't get me wrong, that's his wish list of fees for me. We have acquaintances that are in the real estate field and with my inlaws recently selling their property he knows what the commissions are compared to what we earn.

He understands competition and marketing pretty well since he manages a Spanish television station.

They have called me a few times, now it is only for last minute signings
If your fee is above what they are wiling to pay they tell you that they will call another notary and get back if they can't find one.

When they call I tell them my fee and that fee is now if you call back the fee goes up.

I hate when they start "auction" a job off looking for the lowest bid with no concern over quality.

Oh, you should hear him when he comes with me at night. (He drives when I am going out of town at night, doesn't come inside to my appointments. ) When we're out in the boonies somewhere where we cant' read the road names or addresses he starts wih"They expect you to be out here for how much?? If they think it's so easy why don't they come out here to this country road and try to find RD 18.1, no not 18 1/2 but 18.1!"

He's in business and management so he has a stron idea of what his time is worth. He complains and complains but still drives me when he can. :-) We're bonding , no kids. Just the two of us and the docs.

>>>"I hate when they start "auction" a job off looking for the lowest bid..."<<<

Since I am in an attorney state and work for an attorney, most SS will never meet the base fee of $150.00 with overnighted docs. We usually work directly with TC's, rarely with SS.

I had a call the other night for a last minute signing with e-docs. Quoted a fee of $225.00. They said that was too high and hung up.

Ten minutes later, same company calls about the same job. I am annoyed, so I quote $325. There is a quick intake of breath, then I get a "no" and a hang up in my ear.

Ten minutes later, same company calls yet again. Well, now the quote is $425. This time I hear the quick intake of breath and a hang up. Didn't even receive a verbal response on that one.

Fifteen minutes later, yet again.....now I quote $525. Just get a hang up.

Thirty minutes later, just when I thought they would give up and quit calling, they call AGAIN. Now the fee is $625 (I have been doodling on a piece of paper, which is how I've kept track of the fees). The phone is slammed down on my ear. A fellow NSA is on my other phone and we're both amazed that they're still calling me back.

Finally, at almost 11 pm, the fee is finally up to $1,025.00 (yes, there were calls in between, each time raising the fee $100), and that was the last call I received.

Funny thing is, early the next morning I receive a call from a TC for a signing in that same location. Could it be that the SS gave it back to the TC because they couldn't find someone to do a last minute e-doc signing (approximately 45 miles one way from me) for a mere $60.00?

Hmmmm, something to think about....

Tina, that happens quite a bit here. Signing Services give up and send it back after many attemps to get someone to close the loans.....even after you tell them some rediculous fee and that your in an attorney state, they still try.
