Saturday Deliveries Poll
So here I am waiting. I'm assuming that the docs were Fedex'd because that is how they want them shipped back. Here Fedex is supposed to be delivered by 1:30. At about 2:30 a truck went hauling rear down the street passing the house. Now here it is about 3:45 and still no docs. So here's the poll question.
On Saturday's what is the latest docs have been delivered to you and by which carrier?

Where I live Saturday delivery isn't even available! My delivery quarantee is 4:30 in the afternoon too. I have to let the Title Companies know. Being in a rural area still has it's benefits though. I guess that's why I end up getting more and more via email.

None. The Saturday option is not available in my area whatsoever. They will not deliver even if you beg them to *which I have done*. FedEx will give us the option of driving to the Pittsburgh sorting facility to pick them up, which is about 110 miles away. As for UPS, nothing.

It isn't coming today, neighbor.
The Fedex truck passes me (Green Tree East) at 10am on Saturdays and there is no afternoon on Sat. (or so they tell me)
I will bet that the sender did not check the Saturday delivery box. And if they input the information online, you go to another screen to ask for Saturday delivery. As many time as I tell them when I take the work order, it doesn't happen a lot of the time.

I'd bet you're right, Glenn. I always tell companies that send me packages for Sat delivery, not only check the Sat Del. box, but be sure to plaster the package with the yellow SDR labels.

We got Saturday delivery a few years ago by FedEx Express (not home or ground), last year by UPS, but DHL is no where to be found on Saturdays (and most other days as well). During the holidays, FedEx and UPS will deliver up to 8:00 PM local time if you have Saturday delivery in your area. For me, I usually get Saturday packages around 1:00 PM, but have gotten them as late as 7:00 PM. Weekday arrival for Fedex is now about 10:30 AM since I'm on a regular route with them. UPS arrives about an hour later. Standard day deliveries show up around 5:00 PM on weekdays, by both FedEx and UPS.

It amazing that when we are hired by a company, especially one out of the area, that they don't take our advice on what goes on in an area.
This area has grown so fast that the services, including even telephone and utilities can't keep up. We had a power outage the other day and it was just due to the substation being overloaded.
Fedex, UPS and others are no different. When I am hired on a Friday for a Saturday job, I recommend edocs and there is a 50/50 chance even if you check the Saturday delivery box that it still won't come. I am told, no, it will be ok. Well I have another "I told you so" this weekend also.
I think I will go play golf on Saturdays instead.

Been there many times, what I've done is always ask the hiring company to provide me with the tracking number for Saturday delivery. Noon is the cut off delivery for my area, so if the package is not at the front door by noon I let everyone know that appt. is cancel.

Glenn you were right
They forgot to check the Saturday delivery box. From now on my policy will be to remind them to check the box, and also request the tracking number as soon as it's available.
