Where in the world is Steve Wright?

This is the weirdest email I've ever received from a signing company. How bizarre!

If anyone of our signing agents knows the whereabouts of Steve Wright of 2126 Mooreview St Henderson Nevada, please call our office immediately. He has been in possession of loan documents for a borrower named Bruce Lum. He farmed out a signing on 12/03/05 to a Nicole. The loan documents have been missing since 12/03/05. His voicemail is full and is not returning phone calls. At the request of our customer Alliance Title Company of Danville California, we have filled a report with the Las Vegas Police Department. If anyone has seen or heard from Steve Wright, please call our office immediately 877-716-5222 and ask to speak to management. We are extremely concerned for Steve and the borrower is very concerned about identity theft.

Please under no circumstances farm any signing that Signing Pro assigns to you to someone else. These people are not covered by our group insurance policy and are not under contract. If you decide to do that you are in breach of contract. If you cannot make it to a signing, call us immediately 877-716-522 or the 24 hour hotline 408-529-0014.

Isn't Phil Hary the guy who insists on talking to each notary a half hour before they leave for an assignment. If that is the same guy after seeing the contract they have and the requirements for thier notaries the guy appears to be a major control freak. I couldn't believe that someone wanted to talk just before the assignment to find out what I was wearing and to explain to me the demeanor I should be displaying. and to go over the documents so that they were explained in just the manner that they wanted.

Yes, oh my goodness yes yes yes - yeeeesss.....there is a person who has called me twice within the hour.

Do you have the docs? Yes. I am printing.

Did you print the docs. YES. I will call you if I can't.
You haven't printed YET? I have to go and get on the ROAD.

I am copying the bwrs copy now.

I will not talk to my mother or my son the last 10 minutes before I leave the house. It's my routine and it works for me. I have to have my focus on docs, pens, errands, etc. If the phone rings with something totally stupid stupid llike that it takes me another fifteen to make sure I get back to where I was.

It is not right to call notaries when they are trying to leave. How about don't hire incompetent ones that need to be nudged and let us call you if we run into a problem?

I am not kidding I cannot do that any more. LOL. Oh yeah...I feel red, black...explosive.

Okay...finished printing.

(so much for an earlier happy moment for nice SS co's. mutter, mutter.)

I had that happen to me a few times with Hale Document services. Talk Talk Talk...Its unnecessary when the NSA has over ten years experience under their belt. What’s appalling is that they TELL you how to do your job even though the closing instructions are right in front of your face.

My experience with Steve Hale is that he just wants to know that you know what you are doing. The first two assignments you do for him he likes to talk before and after. Then after that you only hear from him if you have a question. Yes there are more efficient ways to get the initial info to the notary (email, fax), but once the initial yap session is done then you're good to go.

What's interesting is that between non-competes, asking to see your driver license, and calls/requirements like this, there is NO WAY some companies' assertion that you are an independent contractor would hold up in court. You can't have it both ways - either someone is an independent contractor that controls the way they complete a job or they are an employee with minimum wage and other DOL protections.
