funny SOX story.
I got a call from a lender last night at 7pm for a signing ASAP 27 miles one way. We agreed on a price and I accepted the job. 10 minutes later I get a call from SOX for the same signing. She says that the appointment was scheduled for 1pm but the notary was unable to do it (didn't say why). I tell her that I have already agreed to do the signing for the lender directly. There were a few seconds of silence and, I believe, shock. Finally she says "oh reeeeaaallly. Well, thank you anyway". I now wish I would've asked her how much she would pay just to compare but at the time I totally forgot (too preoccupied with putting my "beverage" back in the fridge w/out spilling it).

It would have been nice to see what their offer was.
BTW I am going out of town, I'll email back with the info we spoke about when I get back.

I think SOX may be on the way out as their primary lender seems to be calling direct and paying good fees. I have had a few in the past 6 months and so have some other notaries that I know. Perhaps their time has finally come.
