Jurat Notorial Wording

I have recently purchased a stamp with the new notorial wording for jurats in California. I am confused on using it though, since I am a new notary. Can I stamp it next to the old wording? Should I cross out the old wording or fill both the old wording and the stamp out? I am having trouble finding much information about this anywhere on the internet. I also want to make sure that I am filling in the blanks correctly. The new wording reads: "Subscribed and sworn to (or affirmed) before me on this ___ day of _____ , 20____, by _____________________________, personally know to me or proved to me on the basis of satisfacotry evidence to be the person(s) who appeared before me." I am confused with what to fill in the "by" blank, should this be the person's name or how they identified themselves? The posting on the NNA about this whole thing confused me because I thought I was doing it correctly when I filled it in with the person's name, but the NNA posting made it sound like it should be method of identifcation. Sorry this is so long...just wanted to be as clear as possible.

Fill in the blank and see what makes sense. "...by Ca drivers license, presonally known to me..." "...by Jane Doe, personally known to me..." What do you think??

Leave it to the NNA to make something simple seem difficult so they can try to make themselves look good.

Thanks, Jon...I know it sounds stupid & I thought I had it right, but their article made me
question what I was doing.

After the word "by", enter the person's name.

This gets better....look at the new jurat certificate. Looks like we are duplicating the acknowledgment also.

Hi Carolyn...I agree, it is all very confusing. I have been crossing the old wording out and placing my stamp beside...if it does not fit, I stamp a blank piece of paper and attach that to the document.
