MortgageDocs.com and A-24 Hour Notary
Does anyone know anything about either of these companies? They are both in Northern California? MortgageDocs.com (Fresno) and A-24 Hour Notary (Sacramento)

Dogmonger,
beg to differ as to payment schedule for mortgagedocs. I have done work for them for the past four or five months. My experience has always been that they pay on the fifteenth of the month for all signings during the past month. No need to send an invoice either.

Re: MortgageDocs.com
I like working with MD.com via their SignStat website (it's kinda fun) - small packages and mostly only 2 notarizations. I accept these when only 8 miles or less from home and not a busy week.

Re: MortgageDocs.com
It's MD.com's website where you accept a signing after they emailed a signing request. Whenever I receive an emailed signing request via Yahoo, my cell phone is alerted. I go to the website to see the location and accept it if it's in my neighborhood. I do not depend on the # of miles shown on the website - I have my own cheatsheet on zip codes and miles from home.

I am the one and only
Not sure why anyone would want to pretend to be me. If you're practicing your fledging detective skills and comparing IP addresses, you might remember that AOL members are logged on by proxy and often mutiple members show up with the same IP address. I never shy away from who I am or my support of Fresno State Athletics:-)

Re: MortgageDocs.com
They pay on the 15th of the month for the previous months signings. They always meet my fees, and it's a lot more then $50 bucks.

If you don't mind my asking, regarding the fee you all set with MortgagesDoc.com. I am filling out their contract and it askes you to fill in your fee. How do I know what to put if I don't know what kind of documents I will be siging.

I have noticed in most of the multiple contracts that I have signed with the SS's that they ask for or list a BASE fee, and that fees are negotiable when the signing is taken. Of course, I have not had the opportunity to put this into practice as of yet, because I'M NOT GETTING ANY CALLS!!!!!

Exactly, however most of the contracts I have been sending in ask for the base fee but no where does it sy anything is negotiable. That is what bothers me. Am I locked in to this "base fee"?

CaSigner,
Nope, don't mind at all. By way of background, most of md's signings are WaMu (Washington Mutual) HELOC's - very small packages that really don't take very long. I have done a fair amount of work for them over the past say four months. Only one of my assignments was a refinance, and after accepting it I had to turn it down because I didn't speak Hmong (the language of the Laotian hill people and by the way I understand the "h" is silent for those of you who are curious), and the borrowers didn't speak English.
So to answer your question, you really don't. However, what I would suggest you do is lowball it and put $50 in. If there are certain assignments you are not interested in (say too far away) just don't accept them. If you come in much higher than that you probably won't get many assignments.
Someone stated in the past that one can negotiate the rates (by responding to their emails), but I am not sure about that. Hope this helps.
