Payments
Hello All! I've been a member for about 2 months now, and I've had about 8 jobs. I still haven't been paid yet. They all said payments will be in 30 days. One job is a week over 30 days and the others are in the time frame. What is the normal payment schedule when doing closings?

Happy to give you my opinion.
I wait at least 30 days. Then I submit a copy of the invoice that I might have sent the S/S when job was completed. Some companies do not require you send an invoice, then after 30 days I prepare one and send it. (Also some companies require you send your Social Security Number or EIN : even though it's really not required unless they pay you over $600 in a given year. (EIN that is)
When 60 days has elapsed, then I call the person who assigned the job, and find out what the problem is. ( they usually have various and sundry reasons as to why the check was not sent) The last one was "my book keeper quit, and I'm playing catch-up". Waited another week- no check- so now I e-mailed and faxed that 60 plus days is a little long to receive payment, and if payment is not received in 5 days, I then would believe they were not going to pay, so I would start collection procedings, and it would cost more money for them.
Received a call- same day- saying check would be in mail today, and I would have it when mail delivers it-- It arrived as they said.
I have learned to be patient- don't get antsy- and usually- it gets paid.
Where are you writing from? People will help you more readily here, if you have a Handle and State after it, as some questions are State oriented, and people in your State who know the Rules etc. can answer you more specically.
Welcome to the Forum- wish you well in your new endeavor.

i have been signing for several months here in wi., and i find that the companies email me a confirmation with their payment schedules. i like the ones that say do the job between the 1st and 15th, check goes out 16th. the check actually came several days later, but it was for $50, no the $70 we agreed on, and was for a huge 200 page california 1st and 2nd. So i called her, and she said whoops, Ill send you your other $25. (it was another 20, but oh well) none of the other companies have paid yet, but from what i am reading, the ones to look out for are the ones that say 30-45 days from funding, as i assume if they dont fund, we dont get paid, which is ALOT OF NERVE i think. i would never do one with e docs again for less than $100, and i find if i say that, they all agreed. now lets see if i ever get paid, heh heh

I've been paid pretty promptly from everyone that I've closed for, from 7 Days to just right at 30 days.
On every single invoice I send out, I include a line that says "Payments made over 30 days from date of signing incur a $25 late fee penalty"
After 30 days, if I haven't received payment, I send out another invoice, with the increased fee due to late fee. I also include a statement saying if they had already issued a check prior to receiving the new invoice they may disregard the late fee.
Accusignings (Yes I know....I should have known, but I didn't and took a chance).... is over 30 days on one, and I sent them the updated invoice..they are the 1st one I've had go over 30 days, with the late fee on the invoice.... so it seems to be working.

I've never had a problem getting paid from Accusignings, which only goes to show, that No-No lists don't necessarily carry that much weight.

Signing Services pay in 45-60 or more days
That's one of the reasons I don't work for them any longer.
45-60+ is *IF* they pay!

Re: Signing Services pay in 45-60 or more days
Please let me know what other companies have a history of being a NO PAYER, so I can put them on my bulletin board.

Re: Signing Services pay in 45-60 or more days
Not necessarily true. I have some great SS's that I work for. You've just got to be persistent and weed out the bad ones. All SS's I work for pay within 30 days -- some even pay the week after a signing. They pay me what I request, they don't babysit me, and if I have fax backs, it's generally my invoice or their confirmation/invoice. Not every SS is a bad apple.
