Speaking of initials, ...
... recently a co-borrower was distracted by a child and signed her initials BCA instead of ABC. I'd like to tell you I caught it at the signing table, but I'll tell the truth instead. Some sharp-eyed recipient of the fax back caught it. I called the co-borrower, went back and got the correction made. Will I double-check every set of initials from now on? You bet!
Given the high standards set by BrendaTx, HisHughness, PAW, inter alia, I've got to admit my mistakes here so that others can profit frem them.

Just curious about how this was straightened out to the satisfaction of the eagle eye.
I have always wondered if someone initialed wrong, as in your situation, do they line through Initial, and then Initial? Or do you just initial once over the line through?
Because I did not know the answer to this, I have always just pulled the borrower's copy out and used it when this happened to me.

re: Why not the borrower's copy?
Aha! An insightful question! The borrower had left for a business trip. I didn't want to run the risk of delaying the paperwork, so I had the co-borrower draw one line through her initials and put her correct initials above.
Believe me, I thought about having her initial the line, then put her initials above the line. Then I figured nobody except another NSA would be amused. Whimsy is not awarded in some places. (sigh)

I don't know about BrendaTX and PAW, and I don't even know who this N. Terr Alia is, but I can tell you've not dealt with many lawyers. Anyone who has would never use the terms "admit mistakes" and "high standards" when referring to an attorney.
Texas cutiepies and Florida curmudgeons may be different matters.

How dose the saying go?..To error is human....I agree with Brenda to pull borrowers copy and start over seems like the best bet. High standards is a good trade mark, if acompanied by humor in order to lessen the blow to fragile egos. . I for one would rather seak help from someone with high standards, roll with the punches and smile. Thanks Brenda for turning my smile the right way up

I had a borrower who insisted on initialing every page of the packet that didnt have a signature line. I told her it wasnt necessary and told her to stop till I got direction. No one answered from the company that sent me so I told her not to initial any pages that didnt ask for it, but she said she would stop this NOW if she didnt. She insisted because this would be a 3rd attempt to finish her reverse mortgage. Of course I just let her to it after telling her not to be surprised if it came back again for the 4th time. She just smiled and initialed away. BTW it took 2hrs for this one.

Marty,
From what you say, I am surprised that she didn't want to initial the pages that had a signature line!!

Why not initial every page? It shows that you the notary, precented each and every page to the borrowers and they did see it. There can be no question at a later date, that 'the Notary did not show me that page'; or whatever.
I have borrowers initial every page, even the instruction sheets. Haven't had any problem with that- to date.
(Guess- that said- let the problems begin- Hey?)
