Any computer geeks out there?
My computer is infected with [e-mail address]!enc virus. Norton (even after updating database) says it cannot remove the virus. Can anyone help?

Have you signed onto to Norton's web page? A few years ago I got infected with the Opserve worm. It took a special "deworming" tool that I had to actually download from their site -- you may need something similar with this Netsky virus.

I think I figured it out. I checked the quarrantine log and deleted the file. It appeared to be an email message that was infected. Your post prompted me to use Norton to look further. Thanks.

I am glad to hear that some folks do well with Norton. I have zero luck with Norton.
However, Panda does a great job for me.

Brenda, I use Norton Professional and it is great. I have been a Norton diehard for about 5 years. Before that, I tried McAffee (sp?), and I had zero luck with it, the same as you and Norton.

Yep. I have tried Norton Professional ... that's one of the AVs my son swears by and uses at TAMU in his geek job...but I found that it was often disengaged somehow but it would look like it was/
http://pandasoftware.com is what I use now. And, it's been really good at finding and keeping out the nasty stuff.

Go to Googel (or any search engine) type in - stinger.exe Copy this to a floppy/CD/hard drive and run it. It will delete all the latest. Usually found on McAfee's site.

Delete all the latest what? (he he). Nortan is good software but it has it's drawbacks. I have used personal PC's since the days of 6 1/2 in. floppys, and Dos 3.1 The best I have found so far is AVG anti virus and it's free. I have never had a virus that it did not detect and clean.

I used 8 inch floppies on old IBM when there were no hard drive invented yet. Still have an original copy with manual of Visicalc. Your turn.

I may not go back as far as some of you. I worked on computers in the 60s that had vacuum tube diodes, magnetic core memory and drum storage. It was programmed with toggle switches. It filled the entire floor of a very large building.

Dear Dick, a very new Notary trying to learn enough about this business before you attempt to jump into the fire.
I guess the comment I was about to make on card punching is moot.
Ya'll win.
Brenda, a notary in Texas who better get out the door, get to the courthouse before it's too late in the day to find a couple of documents, and then over to a doctor's office to notarize an affidavit before 5 pm, then back to the office to fax the courthouse documents off to their respective requesters.

I used to punch those cards!!!
I also dropped a six inch high pile of those nasty buggers and had a heck of time getting them back in the right order, before I was ALLOWED to "stand in line" to get my "single screen" fortran program ran at college.
Aaaahhhh, those were the days

Ah yes, Fortran. Loved working with Fortran II, III and IV. But, did you have FUN? Did you also play with SnoBal, Algal, Pascal, making music by placing a radio on top of the core memory, making the line printers "sing", and printing the neat pictures on the line printer (Albert Einstein was one of the best).
It beat programming with banana plugs.
