Booklet on marketing your non-loan notary services
BOOKLET ON MARKETING YOUR NON-LOAN NOTARY SERVICES
I have written a 14,000+ word booklet with solid information on how to get non-loan notary work. With winter coming and rates starting to rise, non-loan work can help boost a signing agent's income. Non-loan work almost always pays on the spot, often in cash - a welcome relief from SSs paying in 45+ days.
I am not another greedy person trying to get money out of NSAs for little return. I am a full-time NSA and mobile notary. The information in the booklet is solid and comprehensive. It is based what I used to build my own non-loan business and to run a successful law firm for 10 years. (I was firm manager, not a lawyer!) I am charging just enough to help compensate me for the weeks spent writing: $9.88 plus SASE.
CHAPTER TITLES Why develop your non-loan notary business How long it will take you to make a living Researching your area’s demographics Types of documents that may require notarization & how to get the work Retirement facilities Teaching notary classes Promotional materials and advertisements Tips on cold calling Networking organizations Non-profit organizations Protect yourself from being shut down by lawyers General tips How to write a press release Sample press release

You're not supposed to advertise services in here.

I've ordered and read Laura's Booklet, for the $ I thought it was worth it. Laura is also very knowledgable about the industry and I have received some great advice from her via email.

I am in one of my cranky moods because I've been working on-site with one of my clients who is deathly ill -- okay, he just has a serious cold and sneezing and cough -- but, he will not stay home (typical attorney) and is spreading his germs to everyone, and I know that everything I touch has his germs all over it -- and if I get what he has ...
I know that Brenda has acknowledged this booklet and given it high praise--I think she even mentions it on her website or in her newsletter. However, as Harry has pointed out , we are not to advertise our services. Laura if you don't already have a premier membership, I suggest you purchase it and peddle your wares in your profile. Brenda has her feelers out into everything imaginable, but she has all in her profile and her website. Thanks for your consideration.

>>>Brenda has her feelers out into everything imaginable<<<
Carolyn, Just what do you know about my "feelers?"
FYI, aforementioned "feelers" are in some pretty UNimaginable places, too.

Brenda quotes, queries, and then qualifies:

Brenda, can we discuss the placement of some of those feelers in locations I would like to see?

I want to pose a question.
I have always interpreted the admonition against advertising our services on this board as directed at advertising of our signing agent services, which is a legitimate function of the profiles NotRot provides.
I have no objection, though, to someone, particularly someone who is a signing agent herself, letting us know that she has developed a product that might be useful to us in our profession. Likewise, I have never objected to a new signing service letting us know that they are now in operation, or a title company soliciting new signups. Another such instance would be tax consultants who have some specialized knowledge of signing agent/notary public tax issues. It seems to me that those help us all carry out our profession in better and/or more profitable fashion.
I have construed the line to be as I said: We don't advertise our signing agent capabilities here. Also, I suspect Harry would get ticked pretty quickly if anyone used his board to advertise notary supplies that NotRot itself sells.
So tell me: Where is the line? I want to know about Laura's booklet (incidentally, Laura, I haven't forgotten that I still owe you a check for my copy). I want to know about potential new venues for business. I want to know about possible tax help. Somebody tell me what is excluded, and what isn't, please.

It would be interesting to know everyone else's feelings on the subject. I just don't want the forum to turn into a place where everyone begins peddling their wares for profit and every other thread would be someone selling something. That's not what I come here for.

Weighing in with a humble opinion
Being a newbie, my two pennies may not weigh heavily, but here goes.
IMHO, a simple, single, statement by the author of a pamphlet should be acceptable. Here's more reasons I believe this specific case has merit: 1) The author is a working notary signing agent; B) The asking price is ridiculously reasonable; III) So far as I can see, there is no competition with what is available on this Site; d) As a newbie notary (and typical of others?) who does not feel ready to do loan work (what a concept, huh? a newbie who KNOWS he's not yet ready!), I'd love to be able to do more non-loan work in preparation for making the move; 5) Purchasing the booklet would support a fellow notary: one person, not a company.
I HAPPILY paid Notary Rotary. My check's in the mail to Laura.
