E FAX Local#/Versus Tool Free
I am looking into E Fax. Is it better to get a local # or Tool Free # and why? or is this why Notarys charge for E-docs the reason they have toll free E Fax Number?

gosh your really a rookie, edocs are loan documents that u receive throuh email, in which u download n print it on your laser printer, the reason u need a fax is to send and receive confirmation that u accept the assignments and some signing compaies also requires that u fax them over sample of the loan docs where the signer sign n u notarize, anymore questions n if u need my input/opinion email me at [e-mail address]

Izzy...
One of the genuinely nice things about this forum is that the participants generally avoid that abominable computer-speak, such as "u" for "you." You'll probably find that your posts get more responses if you take a similar approach. Just a suggestion. You don't have to follow it. Of course, if you don't I will curse you and all of your progeny with scabies, the pain of psoriasis, and a never-ending serenade of rap "music."

Get Maxemail
I had efax at $12.95 a month and that is what you will pay if you go over 20 pages a month. Maxemail has "Maxemail Lite" for $14.85/yr plus $10 set up and it includes 500 incoming pages per month. You will get a Chicago number, but who cares. No matter where you are it is going to be long distance for a signing company to fax you. If you really want a local number, you can get one for under $70 year.

Re: Get Maxemail
hi, sounds great... but everyone should also think about this; companies are requesting fax backs of many of the documents that were signed, which means that the software is great, for receiving confirmations only! what would u do about the 15 or so pages that would need to fax back the next morning. buy a fax machine, call the phone company tell them you want distinct ring, & that you need another telephone number for a fax machine, (NOT ANOTHER LINE but another telephone #). cost very little-good luck

Re: Get Maxemail
Why would you need another telephone number to send faxes? Just hook it up to your current line and set it up to NOT answer. Use Maxemail for incoming faxes and a cheapo machine for faxing out.
Just today, I was called to go to a closing. The reason I got the job was because it had to be done RIGHT NOW and they would send the docs by fax. Since I have a maxemail account, I can open & print the docs wherever I am and this company had already ascertained that the client had internet service and an appropriate printer. So I got myself on the road, printed when I arrived.....actually signed as they were coming off the printer and the buyer was not late for the appointment he had to leave for.
If I sat home waiting for the fax to arrive on my machine, I would lose value to this title company. I was driving to the appointment instead of waiting around.
There have been many times I was waiting for a last minute HUD or needed a corrected HUD at the table and I can just have them "Fax" it to me.
I also have a line with a distinctive ring for my fax machine at home. But at $14.85 a year, my maxemail has made me much more valuable and marketable to the companies that I work for.

I'd use a local number. Why should you pay for the people to send you faxes with a toll free number. I personally used Efax in the beginning and then just went out and bought a fax machine and cancelled Efax.

If you install a second line at home, you can purchase software such as WinFax and your computer will "accept" your faxes for you. You can configure it to notify you (send a message to your cell phone) to let you know you've received a fax. That way you can save paper (as some people still send junk faxes) and only print what you want and keep a copy electronically in case you need it later.

That's exactly what I do. I have a fax hooked up to my modem line, however, I have Winfax set up on automatic receive so it goes on my pc. I can then print to my laser. That way you can receive any size paper, legal or letter as well. My fax only holds letter size paper. I use the fax for faxing docs back only,

Re: E FAX Local#/Versus Tool Free-Mary?
These are two separate connections. Your Cable Internet connection connects to your network card. If you bought a system from Best Buy, Circuit City etc, it probably has a modem card as well. You can do both as they are independent services! Telephone cord from the wall goes into the "Line In" or "Line" spot, and the "phone" spot you put telephone cord from the pc to the separate fax and you can still use the fax machine for outgoing faxing and use the line for incoming. Need to be sure to set the Winfax to auto receive and the stand alone fax not to answer
Good Luck.

Actually, if you have a fax machine (or all purpose printer) "after" the PC modem, you can set WinFax to answer of the 2nd or 3rd ring and set the "fax machine" to answer on the 5th or 6th ring. I have it set that way in case I get a fax when the PC isn't running (crashed, rebooting, hung, etc.). This way, I won't miss a fax if WinFax doesn't answer.
