Fax Machines and Printer Suggestions

I am in the market right now to purchase a fax machine and laser printer. Any suggestions on which one's are good and/or certain things I should look for in them ie. features, brands, memory capacities, etc.

Is there such a thing as a Laser printer fax machine? Maybe I could just kill two birds with one stone if such a thing exists....I'll be looking further into it myself.

Any recommendations/comments/negative or bad experiences with these products would be an enormous help.

Thanks guys and girls in advance for your knowledge and help.

I just purchased the Cannon Faxphone L170 machine. I love it. It's a laser fax, printer, phone and copier. It prints very well.

I have an HP 4 & HP plus that has not given me any trouble and I use it in this busness and another one. You can pick up used one if you don't want to invest in a new one. You can buy laser printers cheap. Where they get you is when you have to replace the toner. THAT IS an on going expense. It can cost over $ 100 to get 3-4K copies and that is an on going expense. I pay about $ 35 for a re-cycled toner cartridge for the HP's. Many of the re-cycle companies don't make them for the 5 in 1 machines and the low end machines because there is no volume for them.

I am having good luck with my HP 3015 which I purchased last July.

Otherwise, I have a Canon copier/printer Imageclass D761 to print those which do not require a PCL driver. It's a great one also with two tray capability.

Do a search on PCL in this forum to determine what you need. If I buy another back up, I will look into a Brother.

For 100% ability to print the docs we do, rumor hazzit that HP is the only way to fly...again, re-stating 100% compatibility with all edoc formats due to the PCL requirement.

Try the HP LaserJet 3330 on E-bay

It is a laser printer, copier, fax and color scanner all in one. Toner at Tonerkits.com for about 85.00 per case and you can recharge each cartridge at least 4 times. Newer model I believe is the 3380. But you can still find the 3330 for about 400 bucks. Sold orginally for 700+. JMHO

Inkjet vs. Laser for fax

Most likely what I will do is purchase each machine seperately....Laser Printer and a Fax Machine.

However when receiving a fax from a signing/loan/mortgage/title/escrow/etc. company, do they expect you to have a laser FAX machine or is an INKJET okay??

I understand when receiving eDocs it is well worth investing in a Laser Printer....however I don't imagine any company sending a bundle of papers via FAX.

If I am wrong or right, please let me know. I am still relatively new to the eDoc business.

Thanks again to all who've responded.

Re: Inkjet vs. Laser for fax

I think seperat machines is smart. I have recently purchased the HP 1320 TN and have been very satisfied. The TN has dfual trays and PCL6 so it should be up to just about antthing.

I just bought the hp 3380, $700. Very nice, maybe a bit pricy, but has many bells and whistles. It copies up to legal size paper on the flat bed.
