HELP!!!!
Hi,
I took a notary class and passed the test to be a notary. I am proud to say that I just received my first signing for loan docs and need some help. What should I use for ID? I think the class said DL, but I'm not sure. Will other documents work for ID? Do I need to fill out all of the spaces in my journal, or just the signature and date? Also, they included 3 blank acknowledgements, should I fill those out and send them back now, or wait until I send the rest of the package? In the class they said don't send loose certificates, but I don't think the lender would include extras unless they need them.
One more thing, which notary wording should I use? One is long and the other is short. I want to use the short one because it is less writing and I think it will look neater on the pages. The short one says "Subscribed and sworn to me on<blank> by <blank>. The other one says "On <blank> before me <blank> personally appeared <blank> personally known to me or proved to me on the basis of satisfactory evidence to be the person whose name is subscribed to the within instrument and acknowledge to me that he executed the same in his authorized capacity and that by his signature on the instrument the person or the entity upon behalf which the person acted executed the instrument." Any one know why they didn't include the wording on all the documents? I know they all need to have the wording on them before I stamp and sign, I remember that from my class, but I don't know which wording to use for the documents that don't have the wording pre printed.
Thank for all your help.
BTW, can anyone give me the name of some companies that pay really well? As you can see by my post, I am being as thorough as possible and am ready for anything they throw at me.

WOW! Let me see if I've got this right -- 1. You took a notary class and passed the test to be a notary, and now you've received your first signing and have come here to ask for help. Why does this seem to be a growing habit?
2. You can't remember what the class *taught* you about ID requirements, and you have no idea of how to fill out your journal. You can prick the Borrowers fingers and send droplets of blood back with the loan package. DNA will tell the title/loan company the Borrower's DNA. As for the journal, make sure you use ta really bright crayon.
3. Why would you want to fill out and send back three blank acknowledgements before you send back the rest of the package? And now you are psychic and don't *think* the lender would include not *extras* unless you, as a signing agent, would need them. The real reason you received three blank acknowledgements is because the SS is looking out for your best interest and include extras so you can use them as toilet paper, because they know you've been so busy doing signings that you have not had the time to shop for such basic necessities. You really need to send the SS a e-mail and thank them for their thoughtfulness.
4. You don't know the difference between *personally appeared* and *subscribed and sworn* but want to use the *short* one only because you think it looks NEATER on the page and is less writing. I do have to admit that this thought is an original.
5. "Anyone know why they didn't incude the wording on all documents? I know they all need to have the wording on them before I stamp and sign, I REMEMBER THAT FROM MY CLASS, but I don't know which wording to use for my documents that don't have the wording pre printed." Well, now I know why you asked about the *long* or *short* wording, because you are going to be at the signing an awful long time stamping and signing each page of the loan package and you need to streamline the process. It would really be helpful to your fellow newly-commissioned notaries to give the name of the notary class you took so, they could get a heads start on their signing career.
And let's not forget the last but not least "can anyone give me the name of some companies that pay really well? ... am ready for anything they throw at me." Let me put this in the true perspective I think you really wrote it as -- I expect and deserve top dollar signings because I went to a notary class and passed my notary test. The reason I can handle anything they throw at me is because I can come here and post my pathetic questions for all you idiots to answer!
BTW, I would have remained Anonymous, too!!!

No need to be rude, you were new once too. I just need a few clarifications, that's all.

Sorry folks. This was not me. I just got in from being out of town.
I left Saturday morning and went to visit my mother (and her family) and my dad (and his family) over the weekend -- all in Brazoria County, Tx.

I have not ever posted anonymously, and will not. I'd like to sometimes, but I know I would not be able to keep my "Liar's Notebook" straight and be busted.

The scariest thing about this posting is that it is close enough to the truth to be believable. Nonetheless, I think we should help Brenda find a hobby.

PERHAPS THIS IS THEIR HOBBY. IT CANT BE A SERIOUS JOB FOR THEM. THYE MUST HAVE BEEN ONE OF THOSE STUDENTS THAT SAT THROUGH CLASS AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. THAT KIND OF PERSON COMES OUT ALMOST AS CLUELESS AS THEY WENT IN.
I SUGGEST NOT SLEEPING THROUGH THE CLASS NEXT TIME. PROBABLY CAN TAKE IT FOR FREE.
WHAT SAY YE?

You might be right about that, Paul. I cannot say so definitively without looking into it further which I don't plan to do.
Nonetheless, the original message I referred to was not my posting.
And, I also regret that I would be seen as inconsiderate enough to post a message anonymously that regular posters would spend time helping with and responding to. I suppose I can only blame myself for that because I am pretty whimsical in make light of situations and finding humor in most of what goes on around me.

This is either the funnniest or the saddest post I have read
ever. The part at the bottom made my side hurt, "BTW, can anyone give me the name of some companies that pay really well? As you can see by my post, I am being as thorough as possible and am ready for anything they throw at me" Classic:-o

This is frightening!
From your IP address you appear to be in LA, CA area, so I will assume you reside in CA. With that assumption, I ask... Do you have the CA notary Handbook? If not, get one, or read it online at http://www.ss.ca.gov/business/notary/notary_2004hdbk_1stpg.htm, read it over and over and over again, study it, and then study it again.
You say you took a notary class and passed the test to be a notary. Just out of curiosity, who was the class sponsored by? Did you take a loan signing class? You need to develop your notary knowledge and skills before EVER thinking of performing loan signings.
You ask if you need to fill out all the spaces in your journal ... think... why would the spaces be there if you didn't need to fill them in? You can draw diagonal lines down the page for repetitive information so you don't have to write it all over again.
As for your "notary wording" question ... "subscribed and sworn to...." is a JURAT, and the "lengthier one" is an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. Do you remember this from your class? Again... I refer you to the CA notary Handbook to read over and over and over again!
I'm not trying to put you down in any way, I'm just amazed and appalled that a person can take a notary class and exam and not know the whether the "wording" is jurat or acknowledgement. I hope you have alot of E&O insurance!!!!! I can understand you being confused on loan signings if you did not take a loan signing course. Loan signings are an animal of a different color, NOT "just a notary" type act. It sounds as though you think every page of a loan doc needs notarized - not true. Have you ever signed real estate documents? Do you understand them? Can you explain what the different documents are? Here is a link to help you with loan doc terminology. http://www.americannn.com/resources/resourcefs.html ... read it, read it again, study it and study it again.
