NNA Renewals--

Received a letter reminding me that " Your Membership is soon to expire, and to please send in your renewal fee".

Then I received an E-Mail saying the same thing..

I 'E-Mailed Reply - "saying my membership does not expire until July 8th, 2005; as of January 21st, I have 6 months and 17 days remaining-- So what is this "Soon to Expire Stuff?"

Requested NO MORE E-Mails at all--and No More Letters, until 10 days prior to expiration date, and that they were really turning me off! At that time I would decide if I wish to re-up.

Are they so much in need of MONEY? What is it? They have nothing better to do , then to aggrevate the people who are already members?? SAD-SAD-SAD!

Can't really explain, but I received one (a letter but not an email) too. My expiration is in the future too, in May. I agree it is somewhat aggravating.

Received three one of those each month for three months now...I still have a long time to wait before the renewal date. They must be hurting for money.

Same here. Two a month. They will make their money at the convention.

Marla - That was my first thought also! My membership does not expire until 3/31/05 and still they have been sending me renewals for *months* now at $.37 a pop.

NNA: Stop being capricious with the postage machine - save money on the postage!

They might be hurting for money. Maybe?
I got one also. Actually 3 in the past 3 months. It is annoying.

They start sending them out a minimun of 6mo in advance. I have no problem with that but thru my certification I'm a member of the NNA and NSA. I don't see why they collect two separate membership fees. I'm not renewing both. Which one would be better?

My membership runs out the end of February. I have been getting renewal notices since July 2004 saying "due immediately." Since September, I have been putting the notices through the shredder without even opening the envelopes. I have not decided if I will renew my membership yet and these renewal tactics are one of the big issues in my indecision.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can renew your NSA membership without also renewing your NNA membership -- just another money racket, IMO.

Original version: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

NNA version: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you get to sell him bait!

Given their myopic, self-serving view of what an association of notaries and signing agents might aspire to, it's no surprise to find they sometimes think selling bait is what's most important. It's probably not much of a stretch to say they've gone so far as to begin using the people they've "taught to fish" as bait for bigger fish ... Maybe it's all starting to catch up with them?

As you so aptly put it, "SAD-SAD-SAD!"

Query for long-standing members of NNA

How many years has this early billing been going on?

Re: Query for long-standing members of NNA

forever. I don't understand why this drives people bonkers. magazine renewals are like this also. if you're going to renew w/the NNA ignore the first one or two. don't wait until the very end. sometime in the middle of their 6ish month billing period they'll offer you free stuff.
