Reverse Mortgage- Cancellation/No Show

I was given a late night (open time) assignment. Confirmation arrived at 6pm the day before the signing. I received the reverse mortgage documents at 3pm the following day. Edocs- 134 pgs total. I printed out the pkg (2 copys) and proceeded to call the borrower for open time (late). I called every hour with no response up to 10:30PM. Should I still charge the company that gave me the assignment for Edocs charge even though it was not closed. I've worked for them before and everything has gone smoothly until now.

Marty,

Were you in contact with the hiring entity during the situation? If so, what was there spin on the situation?

I'd have probably called the folks I was working for to let them know and get direction if possible. Given the times, that would have been a little difficult, I realize. But I might have also sent a CYA fax, as well, and then gone on to the appointment just to go the distance and for the appointment since I worked for them before with no problems.

I spoke to a gentleman and I could kick myself in the a@# for not getting his name. He took down my message and told me he'd leave a message for the scheduling Manager (who had already gone home) and then told me to just keep calling the borrower. I sent the fax but didnt go to the appt. It was too late and I'm a chicken when it gets that late and then not having contact with anyone. It was out in the boonies (farmland). I just didnt think it was worth it.

Marty-A lot of clients that I sign for are "out in the boonies" and at times will have phone service down, and occasionally even trouble in town, or the phone may have been accidently left off of the hook, especially with the older folks. If after calling until about 8-8:30pm ,which to me is fairly late to me, I would have gone Most of the ss's that I work for require the SA to go to the signing and wait a short time, then they pay travel and or the full fee. I do think you should be compensated for the edocs. Sally-Calif "aka gramma shorty"
