Sign and Sworn before me....
Do you all conduct an oath in the beginning of the signing to validate this statement(s) - which sometimes appears in more than one document?

First of All, You're to be Commended...
...for realizing there is a real, true purpose for conducting an oath ceremony as part of a Notary Public responsibilities. If your state is anything like Missouri, probably 90% of all Notaries don't actually place the signer(s) under oath at ANY time when it's required. My practice is as follows & I do it this way because it's MY preference based on discussions with our Secretary of State's office. For each jurat document in the package I conduct an oath ceremony. If there are 12 documents requiring an oath, there are 12 ceremonies performed. BTW, my comments are NOT designed to give you advice in this area or disparage anyone who does it differently. I know there are some on this board who conduct ONE ceremony (usually in the beginning) for ALL the documents. I'd heartily suggest you call your Secretary of State's office (if they're responsible in your state for the office of Notary Public) for clarification in this area. They may or may not have the definitive advice for you, but it's a good place to start.

Like Dennis, I give a seperate oath for each jurat. It amazes me how many people state "The other Notary didn't do this."
I also notice the difference in some of the attitudes, not all, but some, when they give an oath. And let's not count that the oath is required by law in my state, CA.

Re: First of All, You're to be Commended...
I've been conducting the oath right after the signers sign in my journal. Each time a verification upon oath is needed, I reminded them that they are still under oath. I was wondering how others do it.
And, I too noticed that most signers say that they have never been asked to take an oral oath during their previous loans process. I'm in Kansas, oaths must be administered with their right hand on a Bible or held upright. When I do this, most signers would laugh and joke. But they soon realize the degree of seriousness the documents are.
