Update to Looking for a Southern GA Notary

We understand that GA is an attorney only state and that is why we are only requesting a "witness". The title co. is just more comfortable with that witness being a Notary. Most likely for credibility purposes.

Thanks

My understanding of doing a loan closing or signing in GA, must be accomplished by an attorney and the DOT must be witnessed by two witnesses, one of which must be a notary public. I may be wrong on that, as I do not practice in GA, but if it is true, then the closing or signing would be witnessed by a notary anyway.

UPL Advisory 2003-2 specifically references "witness only" closings to be UPL. So what would the role of the Notary Public be? Would there be an attorney present as well? I would hate to see any of our notary colleagues in GA be misled.
