messed up original certificate

On a Deed of Trust, while filling out, my ink ran and smudged the name I had written in. You cant make out the name now. What should I do? Attach a loose certificate with the information, then cross refernece by diagonally crossing out the messed up certificate, and writing on it, see attached certificate??? Or is there a better way? If you have room, line through the smudged name, initial, and re-write the name. If you don't have room, line through the whole ack and write see attached and attach a loose certificate.
