new certified loan signing agent
Hi, I'm a Mobile notary and certified loan signing agent. I have gone door to door delivering my business cards and introduction to escrow and mortgage companies for the past week. I have attempted to sign up with a loan signing company only to be asked how many loan docs I've notarized. How do I get started with the loan signing ? I would like to accompany a loan signing agent to familarize myself with procedures, is this possible? I live in the Santa Clarita valley which is near the San Fernando Valley . Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!!!

Keep trying to sign up with signing agencies. Some have suggested trying to get listed with 100 agencies, which sounds like a good minimum goal. There is a partial list of signing services available on this website. (I have a few doubts about the star ratings, though...) Title, escrow and mortgage companies, as a rule, won't want to even talk to you until you have a good deal of experience and really know the ropes. They don't have time for handholding -- and that's a good part of what the signing services get paid for (at least IMO...) Also, some have said it could take 1 yr - 18 mos to really get established, so it's a good idea to have that much worth of expenses covered before going into this full time. That will vary, of course, by how much a person needs to make and how hard they are willing to work learning the trade and marketing themselves (in that order!). It isn't going to happen overnight.
I don't know about Santa Clarita valley in particular (I'm in OC), but I believe Los Angeles County in general has tons of signing agents and is a very competitive market. Be prepared to do your homework! HTH
