the wonderful warm desert

i'm sitting here looking out my office window at 40mph winds, pouring down rain and feels like 25 degrees, i have 3 signings left today and looks like i will encounter some snow. Thank God i live in the desert couldn't imagine what it would be like else where. lol

Mike,

feels like 25 degrees? Out here in the hearlands, it probably is 25 degrees. But for the time being we do not have snow nor for that matter rain. Nor much wind for that matter either.

Re: the wonderful warm desert...Paul

After all those hurricanes that you went through, I feel that when it comes to the weather, say what you want, when you want.

I am so glad you have sunshine and a warm temperature of 77 degrees.
Enjoy.

We've got snow on the ground here in Lancaster & Palmdale! I need to make a drop off for FedEx, I don't want to leave the house!

Re: the wonderful cold desert

It's 30 degrees. Yee Ha!

My position at the computer allows me to look out of a sliding glass door so I can see the snow getting deeper and deeper. It always makes me feel so safe and cozy. I grew up in Cali and never realized that snow was so silent, duh, I guess I expected it to makes plop noises, like rain. I love the snow. I even love driving in the snow. I love to make snowmen and throw snowballs and snow angels and slide down snow covered hills on innertubes and ski.

You can keep the heat and the Santa Ana wind and the bugs and the aligators and the huricannes all for yourselves. If you're trying to make ME jealous, it's not working.

Go pound your sand. Smiley

Re: the wonderful cold desert

You paint a lovely picture. Snow can be heard sometimes. I have been out with huge flakes that do go plop. Then there is sleet, which is another matter entirely. Are you around Flagstaff? I have heard that it is a four season area.

Re: the wonderful cold desert

Hi maureen

I'm right in the center of AZ, prescott area, one mile high. It is also a four season area. Flag is about 7000 ft. I think and we are about 5200. I've seen the very round little 'balls' of snow, the bigger odd shaped dry fluffy stuff, the big fat wet odd shaped stuff, and some hail that was hardball sized (it tore up our roof and damaged quite a few cars, signs, houses and buildings.) But I can't recall it ever making noise (I wasn't here when the hail fell, I'm sure I'd of heard that.) I don't know the types of snow well enough to tell you if I've ever seen sleet here. I just love to watch, to be in it when it falls. When it's wet, it sticks to me, when it's dry it bounces off. It's so neat!

The first year we were here we tried to make a snowman by piling up snow in the yard. One of the neighborhood kids showed us how to roll the snow. We rolled two balls down the street until they were about 3 ft wide and made a snowman 6-1/2 ft tall. Loved it!

Did you ever watch those funniest home videos were someone learning to ski goes face down in the snow? I did that! Laughing my a*s off the whold time.

We had a heat wave today -- it got into the 30's -- oh, yeah -- it's a dry cold, or once the hair freezes in your nose, you don't feel the cold anymore!
