Brother MFC-8440 printer

I'm having trouble getting my Brother 8440 to print using Auto Select. When checking the printer properties the settings look correct. Tray 1 letter, Tray 2 Legal / Auto Select.
Does anyone out there know anything about this? I've called Brother tech support and have been elevated to a higher tech support which could take up to 5 days to answer.

I have a Brother MFC-8440 but not dual tray. I can't believe it takes a higher tech to answer that question....seems simply, even though I can't help you. sorry!

when printing from pdf make sure that the second box is check "Chose paper source by pdf page size.

The higher level support said that this printer will auto select but it depends upon the program being used. It did auto select using Word but not Adobe. I'll see how it works when the next set of documents come in.
