LDES (Lawyer Document Execution Specialists)
Hi all: I am fairly new to the notary business (having practiced law for the last 20 years and having moved from New Jersey to Georgia a few months ago). I get my referrals from the company noted above, based in Florida. having read some of the postings in this forum, I am curious whether any other notary has worked for this company. they seem nice, but I am required to wait until the end of the month that follows the month of the closing to get paid, which seems like a long time to wait, or is this type of delay in payment common in the industry?

I always look at it this way
I am the one giving credit for services rendered, I set the term. I don't like to work with companies that take much longer than 30 days. Personally I don't want to help fund anybody elses payables. Unless they pay a lot, I would look for other work that pays quicker:-)

Anonymous - I have not worked for these people. But, I have a question. You said that you'd practiced law for the last 20 years (presumably in New Jersey) and had moved to Georgia a few months ago. Are you now licensed to practice law in Georgia? If not, you should be aware that Georgia is a Attorney State and that only lawyers licensed to practice law in Georgia are allowed to perform loan closings here. If you're doing loan closings here as a notary, you are engaging in UPL.
