Advice on the business

I have been a signing signing agent for about 4 months. Last month I had an unbelievable month and decided I have actually built a real business. Now I have only had 3 closings all month. I expected to see a difference of 5 or so either way per MONTH. Any secrets of the trade.

One company last month gave me about 15 deals and then the faucet shut off. I called, they said business has been slow in my area. How do you go from a closing every other day to nothing. So I called the closing desk and she assures me they are just slow and they will call me when they have something. Did I do something wrong? Was I a fill in while the person in my area was on vacation? Anyone have similar experiences?

Also, any suggestions on getting my business up and running? Thanks!

you would have heard if you did something wrong (THIS you can bet on) The ups & Downs happen around here to. If you did your job right you can rest easy they will call you when something comes up. Just get on the internet and sign up with all the companies you can.

Re: To Dmartz-IN

I'm in Indy. I cover Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, Shelby, Hancock, Johnson, Madison, Morgan and Boone. I'm originally from Wayne Co. and will cover that county with Randolph, Fayette, Franklin and Union at a nice price just because I'm familiar with that area. I'll make a note of your counties. If you like, I can keep you in my phone in case I get a call in that area, I can refer them to you.

I realize that from the 15th and on is when I get busy. I have been doing this for 3 years in TN and like they say it is feast or famine.

Google Small Business Association. You will find enough information to keep you busy building your business for months if not years!

go here (notaryrotary) and click on the tab sigining service at the top, go down the list, either email the company or log on to their website and sign up. I have been doing this for about the same time as you and just by doing that every once in awhile, I kick business my way while it is slow, however come the last week of the month..... I am giving out other peoples names and numbers. How has it been going with you out in CA.. And IF you do anything wrong you will know..

This is normal for some areas. I am in Virginia and it is slow here also. Some days are loaded with business while others are barren. I suggest you diversify your business into other areas that require a notary to carry you during the slow periods.
