Funny signing story...

Just thought I'd share this one since it was so unusual...I was contacted to do a signing for a fireman who was on duty, so he asked if I could meet him at the fire station----no problem, I say. Well, just about the time I get my journal and the docs out, the alarm starts ringing and the next thing I know, firemen are running around and one of them says, " kitchen and tv are in the next room--help yourself---we'll be back" and they were out the door and onto the trucks with sirens blaring! So I'm in the fire station, listening to the whole dispatch conversation thinking to myself....how long do I stick around? Well, they were only gone about 25 minutes and we were able to get the signing done. However, we did miss FedEx---oh well!

I had a signing in a fire station once and the first thing I asked was what if the alarm goes off. He said well you would just have to make yourself at home and if we are not back in 30 mins then you can leave. I was praying it would not go off and it didn't. He did sign quickly though...just in case I guess.

I think I would have kept my schedule open for an extra hour just in case and just consider it a courtesy for the service they do for the community.
