I don't believe some of these companies. Did they know how far it was for you? Even so, $20.00!?!?!? OH PLEASE! This is really rediculous!

INSANE!!! $20...is not worth anyone's time to do. Unfortunately, someone must be taking these signings at such a low price---someone totally not aware of their true value and the value of the services signing agents deliver.

I think it is imperative that notaries and NSAs demand acceptable pay for the necessary service we provide. It is important that across the board, NSAs and notaries collectively request higher fees.

If you are printing out documents and making copies, you definitely deserve $100 and up no question about it. The toner alone is about $90 for laser printers. Not to mention the higher cost of gas. Driving 40 miles takes up half a tank of gas depending on what you are driving. These are all expenses to running independent service centers that deliver signing services. Typically if inflation or cost of living increases, a company must adjust or restructure its short and long term strategies accordingly to continue to do business without loosing money.

All I am saying is that if collectively we as professionals demand appropriate compensation for the services we deliver, only then will signing companies and the like be less likely to offer jobs for $20 -$50 because they know this just is not acceptable ANYMORE to ANYONE.

Think about it. You are worth more than $20,$40, AND EVEN $50 bucks! Isn't that why you went into business for yourself in the first place?

Can anyone tell me how any one is thinking they are making a living on such low closings?

Great question! There is NO WAY anyone is making a living off of $20/signing. Any signing company offering this as payment----has to be JOKING because I would outright laugh without any attempt to hide how humorous I found it.

Well...let's just forget making a "living" and focus on making a "profit."

One cannot drive very far for $20. At a reasonable expense of $.50 per mile, that's a rocking 40 mile round trip in car expense alone.

That's nuts.

Those arent even ladies of the night prices

Not meant to offend, but $20 or even $40 isn't even hooker prices. I saw the rerun of Sex and the City where Cary was left $1000. This ss must be joking. They are looking at a 100% profitability off of each of their loans. Even if they had an nervous breakdown and quoted $100 per loan with Title, or Lender, they are still making a $80 loan.

I wished I had one of those obnoxious horn blowers, so that when they quote their fee, I could blow it in my cell. I would call this my wake up call for cheap ss.

Della - the company that called you is rated very low. I wonder why.

Re: I'm in Southeastern MI

How are things going in Southeastern MI? Things have been a bit slower here. Probably because of all of the farming country. However, houses do seem to be popping up more and more which only means one thing, more business. ;)
