How do I find this notary?

I have a document notarized by a "Lynn Toscano". It was signed in MA or VT, possibly at a hospital, and now I need to know where it was signed. How do I find a notary? Also, it isn't stamped, just describes when commission ends, is this valid?

I would contact the Secretary of State in both states. All notaries (at least in CA) have to be publicly listed.

Some states don't require a stamp. But as Anne mentioned above, the SofS should be able to help you.

It is valid if it is correctly notarized under the laws of the state wher she is commissioned. If you know which state, go to the state government web site and look for the notaries. I am certain there will be a place where you can find notaries.

do you have any friends at a title company in MA or VT? They have some pretty sophisticated computer systems for property searches and can locate notaries as well. You'd have to have at least the state where she was commissioned. It may be quicker than going thru the SOS - but the SOS is always the best source.
