Inspections

I am located in CA and trying to break into the inspection field. I can't seem to find any companies. Does anyone know of any companies that may be hiring.

Please do a search before posting a question that has been asked and answered many, many times.

Re: Inspections - GOOGLE is your friend.

"field inspection lender inspector"

Megan, Go to Google.com and put those words in. Look over the returns.

This is the way I locate lists of inspector companies if I am of a mind to.

Also, do a search on NotRot and find a post I did called Inspections revisited...look at that and see if you think you want to do inspections.

It's tedious, pays less than signings and it's not a girly job. I do MortgageRamp.com inspections and by the time I am finished with one I have put five hours into a job that pays $55-$75. MortgageRamp pays better than most. You don't get a lot of extra for mileage...maybe $10 for 40 miles. And, if you don't take them...they find someone else to do them.

The reason I do these is because even if I am only making $8-$11 an hour when signings are slow, it's better than NO money coming in. I have learned to adapt and get a routine down...but beware...inspections are not for the faint at heart. This month I grossed $475.00 on inspections. I was working, even if my pay by the hour was much lower.

Also, your goal needs to ultimately be volume on drive by types...those pay $5 - $8 a piece...but if you do 30 in a day, that's $150.00-240.00, if you see what I mean.
I don't do these, but some do. Good luck.

Re: Inspections - GOOGLE is your friend.

Why not just become a certified home inspector making an average of $300 an inspection much better money than just field inspections and notary agents. I think the training is only 3 months top and around $600 for the whole online course.

Its not that simple or cheap in any state I have looked at. Multiple thousands of dollars of training here, and quite a bit of time apprenticing.

Thanks for answering that questions...I thought it required more than just passing a test...and at $300 a pop, now why would one house inspector do that if they don't have to? How convenient for them. Smiley
