Just getting started with Mobile Notary, need advice

Hello to all my fellow notaries, my name is Kristina Childs and I am just getting started as a Mobile Notary here in Florida. I have used to work for a bank and mortgage company in TN and WA states where my husband was stationed in the Navy. He is now stationed in FL and I really would like to get my Mobile Notary business up and running.

Can anyone please give me some advice on how to get this going strong? I have had 4 companies call me so far, all loan closings did not go through due to customer changing mind or not wanting the loan, things that I or the signing company could not prevent.

I was wondering how everyone got started, where did you post your information (what websites). Did you go in person to local title companies or send them a letter about yourself and what you can offer them?

Just need some advice on getting my "foot in the door" with as many companies as I can so my business can be prosperous. I take the serious but just don't know what is the best procedure to get things going.

Thank you in advance to all who can give me some advice.

Careful! Asking for help around here will make all of the old grouches come out of the woodwork. That was my biggest mistake in the business--asking for help and advice.

"Careful! Asking for help around here will make all of the old grouches come out of the woodwork. "

No, asking us for your entire business plan and showing that you've made absolutely NO effort to browse this board before asking is what makes the old grouches come out of the woodwork. If she had JUST the past few days of messages she would have seen this exact question come up at least twice.

I still cannot figure out why people can figure out that this is a good place to get advice to get started in this business, but they can't seem to figure out that the advice they're looking for might have already been posted on the board and that they don't have to ask for it (yet again). What is missing in that leap of logic?

Sad but true. Shouldn't be that way.

Candy - dig in and don't take up this "Sunny way of stinking thinking."

Sunny would rather complain than to research and learn.

Read Message #33325 - the whole thread.

Use the search tool on this site and search for subjects pertaining to the information you are requesting. Thread # 33325 is very good to start with. You will find that if you don't do your "homework" first (or show that you have); people on this site will tear you apart.

Just some kind advice.

Welcome aboard! Smiley

my advice...get a premiere membership on this site. Also get listed on 123notary.com and the National Notary Association sites. These are the most searched boards for notaries by signing services. Then apply to all the best rated signing services here, if you are a premiere member here, the signing services tab will give you the companies along with their websites.
Make a copy of your commission, bond, W9, e&o ins and keep this file to fax the required docs to the signing services over and over again. You should also market yourself locally with a packet that contains the same plus an introductory letter about your services and a biz card. Stop in and introduce yourself to all the local lenders and title companies. You can also find many signing services by doing a google search for 'signing service/company'. You should type until you can't type anymore everyday until you get at least 200 companies. You will start receiving calls. Most of my business comes from my beloved NotaryRotary! Good luck
