Marriage certificate

Can anyone tell me on the certificate of marriage where it says At (is that the time or the place?) and then it says BY.. Then under the bride and grooms names are the words OF. Can you help me fill in the blanks

I have done many weddings here in Florida, and have not seen a certificate such as you are describing.
Can you fax the certificate over to me?

Please tell me

that this is not the marriage certificate you are signing??? It is not a legal one.
This is just a "commemorative" one, it is for the bride and groom to fill out completely.

You should have the legal one to fill out and send in to the recorders office.

On my marriage certificate the OF part was where we were born.
i.e. Suzy Creamcheese 'of Tallahassee Florida' and Joe Schmo 'of Reno Nevada'.

This does not appear on a legal certificate of marriage for Florida.
The legal document is a three part document, top of the page is the Application to Marry, which the prospective bride and groom sign and the clerk of the court signs it and seals it.
The second part is the License to Marry, which is filled out by the clerk of the court and signed and sealed by him/her.
The third part is the Marriage Certificate which is filled in by the officiant after the ceremony. It is then sent (by the officiant, not the married couple) to the clerk of the court for recording. After it is recorded the clerk of the court returns it to the couple.

The Marriage Certiicate that was asked about in this thread is one of those unofficial certificates that is provided by the NNA. It has notarial wording on it, which is not compliant with Florida notary laws.

Uh-oh. I hope that the original poster received your reply! My parent's wedding wasn't legal - for some unknown reason they didn't have a California marriage license, only the katubah from the rabbi. They got 'married' in Vegas a few days later....or so they say...

I hope so too.
I called the number on the fax and left a message for him to call me, but so far he hasn't returned my call:(
