NY Question
I have been a SA for 3 years and seem to only get work from SS. I read so many posts on this board from people that only work for TC or Direct. I have signed up with a few hundred places and contacted some TC directly in the past, but never rec'd any calls. Has anyone in NY had luck getting work with TC or Direct with lenders?
Thank you

I was a RE Paralegal in NY, have you tried getting overflow from Attornies? In NY the title co only does the title search and attends closings to mark up title reports and issue a bill. It is the attornies that get the lender closings and would have an overflow of both purchase and refi closings. Do you have any title background because when I was a Paralegal conducting closings most of the Title Closers were independent and worked for Title co that would call them with a closing. It isn't really hard work, (much easier that the signing itself) but you need to know how to mark up a title report and the fee schedule.
I actually did a closing here in Florida for a NJ attorney (it was a NJ property but the borrower was a snow bird) The docs were overnigthed, I got paid more than I have ever gotten for a signing and the check was cut to me the day of funding, I had it the next week. I will take any business that attorney wants to give me.

Re: Nancy in Florida
I'd love to add you to my personal network. Please email me, my zip is 32966. You can find me be using the find a Notary tab. Sorry, too lazy to log in.
BTW - I love the Attorney closings for snowbirds too! I did one for a business man from DC back in December. The borrower called me last month and asked what I would charge for a few Notorizations on some investment property that he was transfering into a trust. I quoted him my normal fee and showed up on a Saturday morning. He had 13 properties he was transfering. He, his wife and I, sat at the table over looking the river and signed papers for an hour. I cut him a break and still walked away with a hefty fee.
He'll be back next year and has lots of wealthy friends that winter here too.
