Name Affidavit

To our elders. Can and would anyone care to elaborate on this form. Just curious on how it came into play in loan documents except for the obvious. And how far back in life do they go if they have had a different last name? Like they were adopted by a step parent during childhood. And am I correct in, these other names were pulled from a credit report which would reveal other names used when they applied for credit or are there other areas of resource?

Not sure how long the current version of the Name Affidavit has been around. I do know that in 1978 when my husband and I purchased "my" first home in New Jersey (he had one prior to meeting and marrying me) there was an affidavit we signed which included several different items, one being my maiden name. That was the only name issue addressed in the loan docs.

Those were the good ole days when fraud didn't run amuck and the mortgage world wasn't dotting their "i's" and crossing their "t's" to the point they are today.

Ever notice closing a loan is like being a parent???? Several documents say the same thing 25 different ways.

"Eat your spinach... Please eat your spinach... See the green leafy pile on your plate? Eat it... Mmmmmmm, This is yummy, taste it..."

This is my thought on this document.....
If a signer has signed any legal document in their adult life - the name that they signed with is an aka.

Any name which appears on their credit report is what they are requiring a sample signature on, and many borrowers are finding out that their credit report has names listed which are not theirs. My understanding is that they are getting the names from the credit report when checking the borrowers credit , not sure if they are using any other resource.
