Questions for Margaret/FL

Margaret, I have a few questions for you regarding a post you answered a while ago about being a Property Inspector. I wanted to know how to get the HUD and Fema training you spoke of. by the way I am in southwest florida but if I ever need to refer someone in the Jacksonville area it would be you. Thank You.

For HUD go to http://www.hud.gov/offices/cpo/primes/spi.cfm. You have to signup and they do the training.

For FEMA go to www.parrinspections.com and fill out an application online.

Check out the training schedule under Training. You have to check it everyday and look for training in Florida. Be sure to check several times a day, as once the class is offered it fills up fast. I went to Houston on 6/2 for the Initial class because they were not offering the training in Florida as of yet. I got my certification and I am practicing with the tutorials online. They you have to attend the Avanced Class.
You can still do FEMA inspections with the Initial class but your chances of being called are better if you have done the tuorials online and attended the advance class.

I will add that this training that you get from FEMA will qualify you for any insurance loss inspections.

I went to the HUD sight but could not find any training or links to training. Could you point me in the right direction.

The training is done by the company not online. They did everything with power point and telephone conference calls. You have to contact the company CWIS LLC. Go to www.cwis-llc.com and apply online. Training is done once you have been accepted as a contractor.

I see all of the Florida Fema classes are full..I would have liked to take the course...

You can check the website several times a day. Someone may cancel and they will put it back out their with seats available. The classes are limited to 50 people.
