Short notice

Does anyone receive as many calls as I do with such short notice? I get calls to be across town in 15 minutes. The trip is at least 40 minutes in traffic. Plus I would need to print the docs. I have had to turn alot down because of this. I have tried to ask for a later time and the company says no they need it done now. Am I just out of luck?

I get alot of those, in my area you can not get anywhere in 15 minutes except next door. I do not accept the last minute ones anymore. Too much stress, too many things go wrong and do not close and quess what? You do not even get paid for your edocs.

Are you new in this business or to this area? I have been doing loan closings for years in NY but when I started doing them in Florida I got the same thing at first, last minute deals. If you are new they are testing you to see how hungry you are and many times it could be that another notary dropped the ball and didn't show and the TC/SS are trying to say the loan. Or the Lender dropped the ball and got the closing scheduled at the last minute not to lose the deal.

Do you tell them that you can do the signing but it would take you 40 minutes to get there and if that is okay? Sometimes the times can be adjusted and sometimes they can't. I have 3 for tonight that can all close between 5-8 and myself and the Borrower candetermine the time. So I stagger them.

LAG,

Yes, this has happened to me on various occasions. What I would do (and have done) is accept the assignment and then just call the borrower and explain the circumstances, telling them that heh there's no way I am going to be there at the appointed hour and it is probably going to be like x o'clock. I have had appointments where I haven't received the docs until half an hour or forty-five minutes after the time that the appointment was scheduled for.

Conceivably others will have different perspectives.

I get these all the time...I simply tell them what time it is in my auraSmiley
If they can handle the time juggling, I accept the appointment. Very early on I learned not to stress over other's decisions. If I can make it I will, if not...oh well. Speaking of which, my phone has been ringing off the hook this month. I hope ya'll are just as busy.
