TC Loses Documents - Fee Jeopardized?
Just got a call from SS saying Lender can't locate the documents. He wanted me to go out and have Borrowers resign. Was ready to go for it until he said "they want you to date them the 24th." I simply said "No, it's illegal."
Felt okay about it, but now I'm wondering if they'll try to hedge on paying SS and down the line to me.
No use worrying about 'spilt milk'!

UPDATE Re: TC Loses Documents - Fee Jeopardized?
Lender sending out two new Deeds of Trust. I get Borrowers to sign. Additional fee added.
No problem -- solved!

Do you mind saying what title company this was. I had 4 resigns last week and they are trying to say it was my error and not pay me even a trip fee. If you were the Notary that did the signing on th 24th, I should be OK

It wasn't the TC who lost the docs, rather, it was the lender. (TC was Fidelity, lender CitiMortgage.) And, fortunately for me, no one is blaming me. They know they received the docs.
The SS is paying me an additional fee (in full) to notarize only the two documents and drop at FedEx.
What error(s) is the TC in your 4 resigns saying you made? (Just curious.)

They are saying I never got the documents signed because they don't have them. They are saying they never got them in the packet. I finally got an apology yesterday and they said they lost them.
