Title company vs. Notary Services

Has anyone noticed a difference in the fees paid when comparing a Notary Service to a Title Company? I seem to have no problem getting my fees met when contacted by title companies. Notary services like to haggle. I really have no problem when offered signing by law firms. Anyone else see a difference?

Some title companies, the reputable and large ones, usually pay decently. Others try to pay as little as the SS's do.

Depending what you know about the title company, choose wisely. Many are pulling the "The loan didn't fund, so we don't pay."

I equate that with a client telling his lawyer after the trial, "You didn't win my case: I don't pay your fee." Notaries have to insist, before they take the job, that the fee is for the service they provide and not for the funding of the loan.

There are quite a few good SS's out there too. Many play too many games, but don't blow off the ones that do right by you. We always vent and complain when there is a SS that is bad, but how many of go out of the way to post positive comments about those that are good?

Let's increase the good ones, collect fees for services rendered regardless of the outcome, and inform each other when we find companies that keep their promises.

I'm guilty here so here's a list of a few favorites I can think of

Platinum Escrow
Trust Notary
Negretes Notaries
Finish Line (I've read mixed reviews but they've been great to me!)
Placer Title (National Closing Solutions)
NFRES
