e-doc help

Can anyone please direct me to a sight where I can get sample e-docs for printing? I'm doing my first job tomorrow and I want to double check my printer.

Also, any suggestions for a smooth transaction.

If you want to call me, I wil send you a sample file, however, there are sooo many different types of document files, it would be difficult to actually determine if you will be able to print that file. We can turn almost any file into pdf here, even elynx....
Let me know, I would be happy to send you a swiftview, elynx, pdf, edocs, etc....

I would help if you specify what type e-doc you are expecting. Will it be in PDF format or do you need a viewer to print it - like from Swiftview, DocMagic, DynamicDocs, VMP, etc.

I know adobe is free , are the others? if not what is the price? I have not had to use anything other than adobe so far.

The problem is I'm not sure what they'll be sending me tomorrow. I couldn't even venture a guess.

Nevermind - here it is again -Re: Mrs K - try Msg #13516 ...

For those of you who are wondering if you can print eDocs which are downloaded from the web, there is a way to test your ability to do so for at least one type. It will give you the general idea. (I got the links from a message posted back in the spring on the Notaries Wanted Forum here on NotaryRotary.com.)

1) Download the "PCL INDEX" utilities ( http://www.mrgdocs.com/download/mrgpclindex.exe ) in your download directory or your desktop and save it.

2) If the program does not set up automatically, do the set up.

3) Then go to http://www.lenderssigningservice.com/testfile.mrf and download that file to your desktop.

4) On my computer, the program set up in number 1 above, does not show up in my list of programs (the one at [start] button), so I use explorer.exe to navigate around until I find the program. Do Right click [start] || Explore

5) If your computer puts programs in the same place mine does, by default, you can go into C:\Program Files\MRGDocs\PCLIndex\BIN and double click on PCLIndex.exe to run the print utility.

It will open up a window.

6)In this printer utility, go to ||File||Open|| and

7)Remembering you left the testfile.mrf on the Desktop, now navigate to your Desktop. (This is the file you downloaded in number 3) Double click on it to open.

8) You will have a list of docs.

9) Check (select) one or more of the docs listed.

10) Go up to ||Print|| and select your HP //or PCL// capable printer, if it is not already selected.

11) Next, while having ||Print|| open, make a selection of how much you want to print.

If you are PCL capable to the extent this eDoc utility requires you should be able to do it.

You should have docs printing without further work.

This is just one of many...many...many...however, if you can do that one, you can probably do any. Good luck to you!

So nice to see some genuine compassion for a "newbie", combined with good honest assistance. No one shooting down the new person for asking questions that concern her.

She has asked relevant questions. She has obviously tried to help herself and has come to this forum as a resource. That's what this forum is for, not for the basic notary question or how do I start my business type of question.

Thanks for giving that answer, John...

To that, I'd add that Mrs K asked a specific question which conveyed a very sincere and conscientious nature about her work. And, I’ll help anyone without an arrogant sense of entitlement and a willingness to "reach and get it" as my grandfather used to say.

I am glad people are happy Mrs. K got help, but obviously the “real” message still has not sunk in.

The real message against the stinking sense of entitlement:

If you think you **deserve** help on anything in this forum, you are wrong.

Some things you cannot whine loud enough to get, you cannot stomp and demand, and sometimes you cannot even purchase them.

Some things are earned over time (experience/knowledge) and through developing relationships … by offering respect and building trust.

If you whine and demand, YOU don’t respect people, and people don’t respect YOU. I intend to keep repeating this until I get tired of repeating it.

Mrs. K is great; she’s getting ready before the last minute…she’s earning our respect. You go girl!

Well thank goodness I made sure that the printer and software would work for the e-docs, because they sent them at the last, last possible moment. 5:30 pm appointment and I was just getting the docs. (over 130 pps,and had to print both copies) at 4:45 with some coming via e-mail as well as from a website. The trip to the borrowers house was at 40 minutes away and in rush hour traffic.

Unfortunately I did not have a chance to look at the docs before I left home. (I bought little "sign here" post-it's and everything). :-(

These docs did not have alot of basic things filled in, borrowers were not happy. But they signed. I will still have to verify some of the notorial wording tomorrow and things I was unsure of. I was so glad I got home after 7pm. It was the last time I could have called for pickup. (Oops!)

Anyway thanks to all with the good info. I do do alot of reading, but everything is not covered. I've finished the NNA certification in 2 days. I wanted to have info. before signing. But there are so many items not covered. Oh well, live and learn and crash and burn.
