ever feel like the SS lied?
Mad as all get out! SS told me that there would be 50 copies. So, 100 total with borrowers copies. I took it at their price, thinking it would be a quickie. Printed docs 200 total. I called SS, they were closed. LM no call back. Anyone ever successful getting more money in a situation like this? I really don't want to go to the signing. Then again I have already printed the docs.
Sorry about the anonymous post.

If you dont mind me asking what is their price? I normally expect there to be over 100 pages
when I am printing edocs. Thats not to say they should have told you one thing and meant
another tho. I do understand that. That makes me angry. One time I took a signing at 55. The
only reason I did it was because I was swamped with other work I had to do and they were
going to have the docs couriered over to me. I figured what the hell, since I didnt have to
print out any docs or make sure anything was in order I would take it at that fee. I specifically
told them I didnt have time to do anything like that. Come to find out I had to sit and attach
all my own loose certificates to the package. (Thank you for not telling me even tho I made it
a point to let them know I really didnt have the time for it) Yea that kind crap erks me. But
whatever you live you learn. I just wouldnt ever do another signing for them again especially
if u think the fee is too low or just make sure you negotiate a fee your happy with all around
(complications and the unexpected included) next time before you agree to anything. I've
definately learned my lesson on low fees. Sheesh Ive even learned my lesson with higher
fees. I got a notary job the other day, the fee was great but they didn't bother to tell me (until
I asked cuz I knew something was up) that the guy was basically deaf. That signing was a
PAIN. 10 at night no less. But it was a good fee. Anyway enough of my rambling. Go to the
signing just do it. But learn from it. haha. The SS's lie all the time.

Directed at neither poster above but just giving my experience....
I think I have only felt I was being lied to about three times. Yes, the back side of the assignment may not match the assignment many times, but the SS may not know what's in the package to begin with. They tell me they don't know, but "think..."
Once you find an icky SS, just don't take any more work from them. Let it be water off a duck's back and keep moving.

That extra 100 pages might have cost you $3.00 to print. The cost of e-docs, in my opinion, is more tied to the extra time, coordination, qc'ing , and expected aggrevation of the docs. If you would have taken X for the docs, but you took less than X-$3.00 because of the size of the package than your discount was more than just a matter of printing costs and your mistake was there. If you did take X-3 then frankly the 3 bucks probably isn't worth the ill will.
To then say you don't want to go to the signing because you either screwed up your pricing or you're mad about $3.00 is like putting on a clown nose and clown feet and declaring that professionalism has no place in your work.

I quote an edoc fee of $35 whether it be 20 pages or 100
I still feel that people who are trying to do the on the spot negotiations are not showing good business sense. If you have a set fee for edocs of $35-$40 in addition to your base fee, you will never feel screwed if you are doing 200 pages. If the ss doesn't want to pay your fee, oh well "good riddance"
If you start the negotiating factor, you could be stuck with a full spectrum or an Ameriquest for a piddly fee, and after printing out a couple of full spectrums, I won't touch these for less than $200. trust me, I have 4 checks to prove you can receive this fee.
For one lender that I work direct, I quote and receive $160 per loan and this is based on 10 or more for the month with a monthly invoicing for these. Anything below 10 is priced at $175 per loan.
Set-up a business model and write up a business plan, stick to your guns and you will be profitable. You can tell that I watch "The Apprentice"

This has happened to me in the past. I simply requested the SS never again call me. Then I get on the message boards and put the word out. Nothing hurts an SS like not being able to get an SA. Always work honestly and honorably, and you will always have closings at good pay. I keep a minimum fee. I lower it for no one. I do not mind passing up the job. Build for yourself a good reputation. Show them you are worth the money.

Previous points have very valid points.
Other possibilities are that could it be that the SS rep didn't know what they were talking about. Some SS have hired people who don't even know the ropes about loan docs (I was inquiring during a contact call to get info before accepting an assignment, I asked "What type of transaction is this?" - you know expecting refi, HELOC, 1st/2d. . The rep said "Oh their e-docs" I'm like OK . . . . they're new)
Or, maybe just to give a quick number they just blurted out 50. At times they don't even have the docs yet themselves to know loan package.
My point is at times its not malicious lies just clueless ignorance. But we as SAs have to look at past experience and get more savvy. Ask better questions too. And if they say a refi then you know 50 pgs is ridiculous! Otherwise if we cast off every SS that gives a wrong figure, we'll be unemployed real quick!!
