feel like I'm cheating

I have an agreement to do signings for a local lending company to whom they send my invoice to a local title company and the title company pays me. I have been charging $150 a signing because the assistant to the branch manager said that is what they have been paying the notary before me. Do you think I am charging too much?

That is cheap in comparison to some I have seen

I charge my lenders $200 a signing $50 for edoc, an extra $100 for a piggyback. The packages are humongous, I am normally waiting for title documents, the borrowers living conditions are not the best and there is the " aggravation factor". Your lender is getting off easy.

The attorney who appears on the hud for this particular lender invoices for about $750. The lender is subprime and most of the loans are very involved and have over 10 notarizations and let's not count the grant deeds or qcd and other nonsense that I get with these packages.

Most lenders don't have a problem with the fees, most of their cut comes from the interest rates and the points charged off the loan.

Would you feel better getting $50.00 and a signing company getting 100. I have done signings that the HUD shows $450 for notary fees and I got $100. Don't feel guilty.

I get $150 per signing routinely when working ....

... directly for TCs and lenders.

Lenders and title companies pay SSs $150 and more. They are happy to pay good notaries the same and know they can get good work every single time.

You are finally getting paid appropriately.

Get over being in shock and enjoy!
