long names on ID

I ended up not having to do this one, but I want to make sure in case there's another one.
The borrower had 4 long names on her DL, not enough room on DL for all of it. so they shortened her first name from maria to ma. All the rest of names were ok, is this something thats ok to ID her with? I was sweating it, trying to figure it out when the whole thig went south anyway, so whewwwwwww

I would think that would be okay. I have 2 friends named Maria and one actually signs Ma. Her name is Maria Isabel and she writes her name as Ma. Isabel. It is very common in the hispanic culture to abbreviate Maria. IMO I think it would be okay....but I could be wrong, and I am sure someone will let me know.

Re: Christi/socal - thanks...

I don't know if it's ok to say other board names here, but if you put in "notary boards" in a web search the main ones will pop up. Including of course this one!

your welcome, and

I can't tell you how much you (and the other experienced, seasoned (but not old!) N.S.A.s) have helped me. I was one of the really naive uninformed "newbies" until I found the boards.
Boy what an education! Anyway I am grateful to all of you.
P.S. you still make me feel lazy!!!

I am also grateful for this board and what I've learned...

**christi/socal: Boy what an education! Anyway I am grateful to all of you.**

Yes ma'am - I agree 100%.

It's amazing what a "newbie" can learn when he/she READS this forum, and others like
the one at http://SigningRegistry.info.

I read this board voraciously before starting...I still do, as you know. I did not ask one single question until I knew the questions to ask. I always figured that it was a "gift" for those like PAW and Sylvia to answer questions...most of them had been asked and answered repeatedly. Anyhow...I owe a lot to this board.

Okay...back out into the heat.

PS - Thanks Charm and AD/VA!

You need to check with the SOS. If it doesn't match, I wouldn't use it. MA could be a abbreviation for any thing. You don't know that the borrower didn't give the DMV that spelling for MARIA. I had one with the same MA for Maria, SOS said full name on ID if the full name is on the document. Had to use credible witnesses.
