what's the furthest you would drive

What's the furthest you would drive for $75.00 standard fee?

I would say 10-15 miles round trip.

It depends..... is it e-docs? Then probably only in my own vicinity. Or it could depend on if you feel like going on a scenic drive because you have nothing else to do. Or how bad you need the money. I have driven 75 miles one way for $150, but then took the rest of the day to enjoy a different cities beach and bask in the suns rays.

This is for a signing that is 40 miles one way - and in my area will take me 1 hour and 15 minutes one way. The SS wanted to offer me $50 and $25 for edocs. I told them $125.00 for everything and he said he's only making $95.

I certainly would not drive 40 miles one way and take edocs for $75, but as said earlier, sometimes, especially in the beginning, you might just take an order to gain that much needed experience. I did one on a Saturday night and drove 1.5 hours with edocs, ended up getting home at around 1 or 2 am and got paid around $100 when I first started, mostly because I wanted the experience that came with the closing as much as the money. Hope this helps.

Oups meant to post this

I find it hard to believe he is only making $95. In a lot of my packages there is the "notary fee" most companies I work for this is approx. $225. I wouldn't drive 80 miles round trip (would be 100 miles for me as I always tend to get lost) unless it brought me to some magical place I could spend the rest of my day at having fun.... Tell him to find somebody to do it for $75 while driving 80 miles and assure him he'll get what he's paying for or you'll do it for your standard fee (mine would be $125) and he'll get a job well done. To many SS's for us to low ball ourselves...... But KY is right, if your just starting out it would be good experince.

Re: Depends on areas Im sure

I am sure it is different with everyones area. 75 is my base fee and I will go 50 miles one way. Around here it is not hard to get anywhere. If it takes you an hour to go 40 miles around here, then you are probably driving in the fast lane doing 45 with your left blinker on and wearing those goofy sun glasses that look like safety goggles.

WA ROFLMAO

For those who hate just a post to be a subject heading....... WA ROFLMAO. I live in a rural area and to get to town it takes apporx. 30 mins..... Once in town it could take an hour to go 20 miles with traffic........

Re: Depends on areas Im sure

Brijoe...the State of Texas currently reimburses it's employees for mileage at a rate of .35/mi. (low at current gas prices).

.35 x 100 miles is $35

You are charging $75 to go 100 miles = $35 for your car leaves $40 gross before taxes of approximately 20% leaves $32/2.5 hours = charging $12-$13 per hour for your other business expenses.

Not criticizing...but isn't this low?

Re: Oups meant to post this

Actually what I see on many of the HUD's is a closing fee or settlement fee - this is split between the Title Co and the Signing Co. I've talked to a few title cos and they have indicated they are starting to pay signing cos 90-115 using the volume card. I've confirmed that with a few signing cos...So, basically the signing cos are undercutting the experienced signing agents...If the signing service gets volume and can get the notaries to do the job correctly cheaply both the title co and the signing service are winners...Back when I was new and doing $50 signings to get my experience, my signings were flawless as I was paranoid and nit picky---Finding the excellent rookies is a way for the singing service to provide quality service at a bargain price!

The word "furthest" implies degree. The word "farthest" implies distance.

The furthest I would drive for $75?

I would would happily spend 5 minutes on the phone berating a stingy SS owner to a highly insulting degree in order to be paid $75.

No more than 30 miles RT, and e-docs are additional.
