Bond increase for PA notaries

My notary commission is dated '02. PA required $3,000.00 bond at that time. Now PA requires $10,000.00 bond for notaries. Does anyone know if that is for new notaries or do I need to increase my bond amount before I renew my commission in '06.

The $10,000 bond applies to all PA notaries as of July 1, 2003. You'll need to get a $10,000 bond when you renew in '06.

Jayme - I know that is true because I just renewed my boss's commission and he had to get a $10,000 bond.

Where in PA are you? I'm in the NE.

Mary, thanks for the "agreement" on bond amount update. I'm in central PA....the rural part....

Are you near Williamsport?

Mary, I'm in Altoona, in Blair County. I've had a few calls in the past requesting notary signing agents in your area. If you would like, I would be happy to send the assignments your way.
